Our draft gurus make notes and scour college talent all year long, coming up with our rankings. No cheating, no 'borrowing' other people's lists, each prospect ranked has been scouted. We're not trying to pick what the 'experts' will pick, we're trying to judge college football talent.
Our positional rankings are based solely on scores the players receive in five categories: strength, speed, technique, intangibles and progression. Strength, Speed and Technique are graded Rating, while progression and intangibles are graded Rating. Each prospect is graded for his position only, not against other positions. So a guard can grade out as high as a quarterback. The system is designed to literally rank the top 10 players at each position, not predict the order of the draft. |
| Category | Score |
| Strength - Strength will mean different things to different positions. A score of 10 for a running back, and a score of 10 for a guard doesn't mean that the running back is as physically strong as the guard. | |
| Speed - Speed will also be graded relative to the position. Obviously offensive linemen aren't going to run as fast as cornerbacks, but our system ranks them relative to other offensive linemen. | |
| Technique - We look at techniques specific to each position, like what a quarterback's throwing motion looks like, or how an offensive tackle moves his feet. This category varies the most by individual position. | |
| Progression - This ranking represents a player's improvement. Some players begin developing later in college or just better prepare themselves for the NFL. | |
| Intangibles - Ranks what a player offers outside of physical categories... scholastic ability and commuity spirit might gain a player points, whereas something like law trouble would lose them points. | |
| Total - This gives each player a score out of 40. Our top 10 rankings are based solely on these scores. But rather than confuse everyone by posting a total score out of 40, we convert it to our THN #. | |
| THN # - We multiply that total score out of 40 by 2.5 to get an adjusted score out of 100. We round up to the nearest whole digit and this is our official THN #. See the example below. | |
