Dan Snyders agenda...........
Go to redskins.com and look to the right at redskins store...
by hailskins666 on Mon Jul 21, 2008 8:52 pm "Pre order" your Jason Taylor jersey. The guy hasn't even played one down for the B & G. He too could be bitten by the injury bug, and never play a down. (god I hope not) But you can send Danny your money for his jersey. I am all for the Taylor trade, don't get me wrong. But, this is Danny Boy at his best. He is all about the $$$. If you don't think so, take your family to training camp this week, or even a game this year. It will hit you in the wallet. Hard. Snyder is the national media's whipping boy, because he makes himself such an easy target. The guy is a businessman flat out. And, not a good person by any means. Our fans keep throwing money at him, but yet there has not been an on field product worth shaking a stick at since he bought the team. He is NOT a good person. He could give a rats ass about the average fan, as long as they re-new thier season tickets. Now he wants us to buy Jason Taylor replicas...... the same ones we buy of other players and the numbers are rubbing off after the second wash. God forbid you buy an 'authentic' with other players nameplate ripped off..... then replaced with crappy effort.... If i ever do buy another jersey, it WILL NOT be from one of Danny Boy's stores. Since revenue is 'shared', maybe I'll buy from NFL shop... maybe. The first blog i ever did was on 'money grubbing' by the Danny, involving jersey sales... http://www.thehogs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19828 This is the same guy on "FAN APPRECIATION DAY" who charged fans $25 to park, and didn't allow the 'fans' to bring in any beverages. But, you could conveniently buy bottled water at the concession stand for $5 a pop. No water fountains available. http://www.thehogs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19922 What an ass. Serious short man syndrome there. We pump out our hard earned "pennies" and this billionaire piece of crap continues to grab as many as he can. The american way I guess. Well, He won't get anymore of my pennies. I could care less to go to Fed Ex and fight the crowds. And I won't spend another penny that involves the "Redskins" directly. I know that all revenue is shared, but thats the way it will be. Danny WILL NOT get his hands on mine first. Most people now regard him as a 'progressing' owner. To me he is still the same piece of crap he always was. People don't change. Snyder won't either, as long as he is living in the lap of luxury at the fans expense. Helping with this site has been a blast to say the least. I have met so many good fans and friends, and been up close and personal at Redskins park. But, it has also allowed me to see how the Skins' brass operates up close and personal, and realize that I'm glad I have no official connections with Snyder and the Skins. In the scheme of things, if you are kissing Snyders ass, fine and good by the Redskins. If you actually have your own opinion, you are just a pain in the ass of Snyder. But I digress. Everyone is going to make thier own decisions. Hopefully this blog has made you think twice about yours. Again, this has nothing to do with the fact that we traded for Taylor. I love the move, It's just the fact that we are expected to pay right away, (which many, many will) without any shread of evidence that it will be worth it.

Dude, your always right when it comes to Danny. I saw that on the Redskins site and thought to myself, geez, can the guy get a damn number first??? I'll be at the practice on Sunday morning and I'll see what they have going on there. I've never been before so I'm going into it pretty open. Thanks again man, great insight as always.by langleyparkjoe on Tue Jul 22, 2008 8:08 am

I would love to see how Snyder would handle a team in a much less supportive market.
by DEHog on Tue Jul 22, 2008 9:43 am He’s fortunate to have brought into a great brand (the NFL) and a great product (The Redskins) that people will support regardless of his actions. Scott we’ve had many conversations about this topic and you know I agree with you!! My eyes were opened even more in April when I was in Phoenix during the draft. I went out to the Cardinals draft day party. I parked, got a Cardinals lanyard, two nice Cardinal pics for autographs. One of those Motorola blow up head sets. I meet most of the players as they rotated players every couple of hours in two locations…got to meet the head coach it was great. Guess how much it cost…..$0 Yet I continue to pay for my season tickets??? I do however refuse to upgrade!!! I think the thing that will finally drive me away is when the Skins move back to D.C. and Danny start charging us a PSL…hopefully I’ll be in FL or AZ by then!!

Gee, another anti-Snyder rant! by Mursilis on Tue Jul 22, 2008 10:44 am Yes, DS wants to squeeze every penny he can out of the team (don't most owners?), and he's alienated a bunch of fans in the process, but as long as people continue to pay him the $$, who can blame him? All I have to say is, it's called a FREE market for a reason - you're free to keep your cash and not hand it over to Dan. Myself, I'm not now and have never been (or plan to be) a season ticket holder. It's much cheaper (and much more enjoyable) to watch the games at home for free (well, I have to pay for FIOS TV service, and the HDTV wasn't cheap, but it's still cheaper than tickets, and a much better view). Sure, I've bought a few jerseys/shirts/etc., but always on sale, so I doubt DS has made much $$ on me. But then, I don't view "supporting the team" to be the same thing as "giving gobs of cash to the team".

Well, he def paid a premium for this franchise, and mostly it was due to the fanbase and profitability of said fanbase.

hailskins, I hear ya, man.
by SkinsFreak on Thu Jul 24, 2008 8:23 am I know if I plan to take my family of four to a game, it's going to cost several... and I mean several Benjamin Franklin's. It ain't cheap. I can understand many fans frustrations with Dan Snyder, I do. The following is not necessarily a defense of Snyder or the Redskins, just some insight based off my personal experiences. I currently live in Florida, born and raised in Maryland. Over the past three years, I've been to NFL football games in Miami (Pro Player), Tampa (Raymond James) and Jacksonville (Alltel). I can unequivocally tell you, the ridiculous prices are not unique to Dan Snyder or the Washington Redskins. They ALL had similar prices, if not the exact same prices; $8 for a beer, $5 for a bottle of water... etc. My roommate from college now lives in Phoenix and is a Card's fan. He's been to the new stadium built for the Card's and has also spoke of the insane prices at games, and those prices were right in line with those charged at Fed Ex field. And by the way, I've been to numerous games at Fed Ex, so I am very familiar with those prices. Snyder does, in fact, reinvest at large percentage of his profits back into the team. I don't think anyone can deny that. Pushing the cap for players salaries, allowing players like Collins and Royal to use his private jet, and chartering a 747 for the team to attend ST's funeral are not acts of a selfish, cheap person who's 'sole' intentions are to make and hoard money. Whether or not he's paid that large sum of cash for the "right" players or coaches in another argument entirely. There are owners in this league notorious for large financial gains with little to no reinvestments. Wayne Huizinga and Bill Bidwell are known for charging high prices and pocketing those profits instead of using it to upgrade their teams. However, I will admit that since the city of Phoenix paid for Bidwell's new stadium, he has been willing to spend some cash upgrading his team. Whether it's in the NFL, MLB, NBA or the NHL, marketing jerseys is commonplace. When a team, in any sport, signs a new player, especially a high caliber player, marketing and promoting jerseys sales quickly follows, and again, is not unique to Snyder or the Redskins. Certainly there's money to be made off jersey sales, but there's also a demand for it as well. I can completely understand and appreciate many fans frustrations with Snyder regarding the management of our beloved team. At the age of 38, I was also around and was a fan long before Snyder bought this team. I've also been critical of decisions made by Snyder in the past. Perhaps some remember my rant in the Smack forum the day Snyder fired Saunders and Williams. But based off my personal experiences, insane prices charged by teams and at stadiums and the marketing of jerseys is not unique to Snyder or the Redskins.

Wow, I got the e-mail telling me to pre-order my Jason Taylor jersey too, but I didn't realize that it was a "requirement."
by Bob 0119 on Mon Jul 28, 2008 3:52 pm I thought at the time that I could choose to buy the jersey if I wanted too, and that for my convenience I could pre-order it now. What if I don't want the jersey? I mean if I don't buy it will I not be allowed in the stadium? Will they cut off the signal to my house so I can't watch it on TV? Will the Danny flex that billionaire muscle of his and get me banned from TheHogs.net? Wow, that really sucks, I simply deleted the e-mail so now I suppose I have to go to the Redskins website and order my Jason Taylor jersey...or maybe I'll just take my chances. Y'know, maybe they really were just trying to capitalize on people's excitment over Jason Taylor, and just maybe there are people out there with enough money where they might just want to buy a Taylor jersey. I wouldn't, but maybe somebody would. I might just be okay if I choose not to buy one.

The Jets signed Brett Favre today. On the Jets team website, the front page has a solicitation to "order your Favre replica jersey today!". This is obviously a "pre-order" since Brett was signed less than 24 hours ago and the Jets haven't manufactured any jerseys yet.
by SkinsFreak on Thu Aug 07, 2008 6:34 pm Monday Night Countdown on ESPN just reported that over 4,000 of Favre's Jets jerseys were sold today, and per ESPN, the largest number of jerseys sold in less than 24 hours. Again, this type of marketing is commonplace around the sporting world and evidently there is a demand for players jerseys very soon after a team signs them.

It's still loads of fun, you just have to accept that it's gotten a lot more pricey. At least it's still free on TV! Leave a quick commentor post your reply in the Blog-Forum. |
