Ryan O’Halloran wrote a great piece today about the alleged “cheating” and “snap count mimicking” in the Cowboys game.
Please check out his article, to get all of the quotes and full story right here.
To quickly summarize, former Cowboy Stephen Bowen took great exception to the accusations, and set the record straight from his viewpoint:
“Honestly, I lost a lot of respect for Costa. Just be a man and tell the truth. It makes no sense because he’s lying.”
As they say the proof is in the pudding, and O’Halloran stated in his article that:
“Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said the centers wear microphones during the game and the audio provided no evidence that Bowen, nose tackle Barry Cofield or any Redskins linemen was barking snap counts.”
Was there ever a story here? Will we ever really know the truth?
Just because I think the image of Tony Romo’s whiny mug adds the right tone to these accusations, his comments after the game were:
“Costa said the D-line kept calling out the snap count. … We’ll tell the league and see if that’s something that can be fixed because you’re not supposed to be able to do that.”
I’ve never had much occasion to say this about an NFL team, but given the subjects, the Dallas Cowboys have somehow managed to be sore winners.
That’s not something you see every day.
