Redskins Legends Gather on Maryland’s Eastern Shore

Last night, I had the chance to head across the Chesapeake Bay to take in the 9th Annual Mickey Steele Poker Tournament, which honors a fallen friend of former Redskins quarterback Mary Rypien and raises money for charity.

Throughout the night, Redskins legends streamed in and out of the Fisherman’s Inn in Grasonville, Md. Players ranging from Rypien to Gary Clark to Reggie Branch to Jeff Bostic were in attendance.

Attending the event for my employer, What’s Up? Magazine, I was able to catch up with Rypien and Bostic as well as Ricky Sanders and general manager Bruce Allen.

We covered a variety of topics, including the tournament and how the the current Redskins squad will fare in 2013 and the debate surrounding the team name. Bostic did not hold back about his feelings on the team name.

Here is a snippet and a link to the story. Read the rest of this entry »

Looks like all those Redskins fans that were counting on an extra eighteen million in cap next year, are going to have to go suck on a great big lemon. In Love With Two Players

In case you missed it yesterday Redskins fans, General Manager Bruce Allen held a press conference to fill in some blanks about the blockbuster trade between the Washington Redskins and the St. Louis Rams.

A lot was said and you can check it all out here, but one of the most important things said was: “Clearly we fell in love with two players,” Allen offered. “We believe one of those players will be a great Redskin.” Read the rest of this entry »

Analysis of the Washington Redskins and Fans

Okay, it’s finally time I present this long-winded rant about the Redskins. Just a quick disclaimer, there may be some foul language, I may target some people, and this is not going to be a rant all about the team or coaches… “fans” are as open a target as any. Read the rest of this entry »

Expectations Too High?

So, it’s not unusual for there to be high optimism for Redskins fans during the offseason. This one feels real though. With Cerrato, Zorn and Campbell gone, replaced by Allen, Shanahan and McNabb it’s easy to see why Redskins fans are excited.

It doesn’t help matters much that Shanahan has said he expects to “win now.”

Redskins 2010 Offseason

Here we go with another edition of “How to Spend Dan Snyder’s Money!” Also affectionately referred to as “Who Wants to be a Gazillionare!”

Fans are understandably nervous about the possibility of a lockout in 2011, but in the mean-time, it’s looking like 2010 will go uncapped. The rumors of what the Redskins would do in an uncapped year began the moment someone realized this was an actual possibility.

Musings from Curmudgeon Corner

Posted from Curmudgeon Corner, Maine

You know what they say about opinions…
I have no idea what the next few weeks may hold… but I suspect that there is some fun afoot.

My plan?
Re-sign Campbell. Work on building an OL for the future. If a QB falls to us, fine. But, what the heck… nobody listens to me since my dog died. Read the rest of this entry »

This weekend, Andre was nice enough to take the time to answer questions about his new position change, what he expects from new defensive coordinator Jim Haslett’s defense, as well as who he wants to win Super Bowl XLIV and if he has collaborated in helping prank rookie Pro Bowler Brian Orakpo this week along with much more. Musings from Curmudgeon Corner

Posted from Curmudgeon Corner, Maine

As is typically the case, the Redskins are off to a fast start in the offseason championships. Heck, the regular season wasn’t even officially over, and we already had a 4 game lead over the competition after the hiring of Bruce Allen. Read the rest of this entry »
