SNAFU: Redskins Make Some Injury Decisions – DeAngelo Hall Activated

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

The Redskins released some injury and roster news today, as usual, most of it no good.

As of now, Shawn Lauvao (stinger), Matt Ioannidis (hand), and tight ends Jordan Reed (hamstring) and Niles Paul (concussion) are all officially out for the Seahawks matchup. None of those four are that surprising, but what was surprising was that after finally stirring a bit last week against Dallas, Jamison Crowder was downgraded to out with his hamstring injury.

With five guys on the active roster out, that means that only two of the players currently listed as doubtful, questionable or probable can sit. The rest will have to dress to have the full 47-man roster. Read the rest of this entry »

The Redskins Injury Situation Has Officially Reached A Sublime State

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

Do you ever remember an instance where an NFL team couldn’t field a roster? That is exactly the situation that the WRedskins currently find themselves in, coming off a tough loss to the Cowboys this past weekend. Obviously the state of the roster drastically affects the Washington Redskins betting odds this week, and Jay Gruden added a few more critical names to the Redskins unavailable list on Monday at his press conference.

Jordan Reed (hamstring) was the most “marquee” player added to the laundry list of injuries this week, along with fellow tight end Niles Paul who is under the NFL’s concussion protocol after a scary helmet-to-helmet collision against Dallas. Promising defensive lineman Matt Ioannidis will undergo surgery to his hand and definitely will not be available for this week’s matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.

There are 53 players on an NFL roster – each week, the team is allowed to activate 47 of them. Right now, 13 of those 53 Redskins players are injured. The team is literally in danger of not being able to field a full football squad this week against Seattle. And that 13 doesn’t include Morgan Moses somehow, who is playing on two sprained knees.

Redskins: Will The Real Jamison Crowder Please Stand Up?

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

As the Redskins head into the weekend, and a giant NFC East match up with the Dallas Cowboys, the team is rife with uncertainty. Their offensive line has been flattened by injuries, their defensive secondary has been plagued by the same, and their offense continues to struggle despite decent play from quarterback Kirk Cousins. At the heart of those offensive woes has been the performance of the Redskins receivers – or lack thereof. Jamison Crowder has played no small role in those struggles, and the Washington Redskins betting odds continue to reflect the lack of a legitimate receiving threat in the Redskins arsenal.

It was obvious when Pierre Garcon and Desean Jackson were both let go in the offseason, that Washington’s receiving corps would look very different in 2017. The Redskins hoped that Josh Doctson would rebound from a rookie season on injury reserved and step into a much bigger role for the team. Washington also signed Terrelle Pryor with the mind that he could be a big-bodied presence and a solution in the red zone. Both receivers have been disappointing so far, but in reality, their performances have not been all that surprising.

What has been surprising is that the one holdover from last year’s starting receiver crew may actually be the receiver who has struggled the most. In his first two seasons with the Redskins, Jamison Crowder was electric in the slot, and the Redskins were hungry to find innovative new ways to get him the ball.

Redskins Preparing for Season Now that Training Camp is Over

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

The Washington Redskins ended training camp on Sunday, and have now turned their full attention to getting ready for preseason games as the season opener fast approaches. If you want to bet on Washington this season, check out the Redskins betting lines to win.

After closing camp, head coach Jay Gruden said he felt the team had a very good camp and he is excited to see how it translates on the field. Gruden said they got to evaluate a lot of talent and they will continue doing so until the end of the preseason when they have to make their final cuts.

A few Washington players suffered injuries during camp, which means the team will have to evaluate more players to figure out which ones can fill in for their injured players on a temporary basis. Players like DeAngelo Hall, Sua Cravens, Josh Doctson, and Jamison Crowder are expected to be kept out of preseason games to give them time to recover from their injuries. Redskins 2015 Draft Haul

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

I love the Draft. I don’t take the same kind of draftnik approach that I used to and scour over other people’s opinions on players until I have formulated my own full blown draft hypothesis. I respect the people that do, but these days, I take a more relaxed approach.

I don’t profess to know which players will be drafted in all 256 slots. I only know that I enjoy the offseason pageantry that I personally attach to the event. It’s the football equivalent of Christmas in July. Besides, the randomness of it all, makes it tougher to predict than the pokies at www.pokiespalace.com.au.

Here is a look at all ten of the Redskins 2015 NFL Draft selections, as well as some commentary about them… Read the rest of this entry »
