Flashback Friday: This Day in 2007

On this day, October 7th in 2007, the Washington Redskins crushed the Detroit Lions 34-3.

Jason Campbell was a near perfect 23 of 29 for 248 yards. He threw two touchdown passes for a stellar quarterback rating of 128.3. Antwaan Randle El led all Redskin receivers with 100 yards on 7 receptions.

Not only did Carlos Rogers actually catch a ball that hit him in the hands, he returned it 61 yards for a touchdown (this was before getting his eyes fixed of course – if you remember, he couldn’t catch a cold).

Sean Taylor had a 35-yard interception return.

Check out this clip of Sean gunning off the Lions as the Skins come out of the tunnel for the game and getting jacked up before the game even starts – near the end of the clip. RIP brother – you are certainly missed and never forgotten. Thanks YouTube…

Recapping Days 1 and 2 of Free Agency

The Redskins took a little time to begin Tuesday’s opening of free agency but as the afternoon and evening went on, they stopped being shy and went right at it.

Musings from Curmudgeon Corner 11/23/09

Posted from Curmudgeon Corner, Maine

I have no idea what to think. My Redskins just held to Cowboys to 7 points. My Redskins carried a lead into the fourth quarter, against the Cowboys, at their house. I should be happy.  Yet, I find myself wondering “so, what?”

The problem was, that lead consisted of 6 points.  Six lousy points, on two field goals.  I can’t entirely blame Zorn, this time.  The patched up offensive line took another blow, with the loss for the year of yet another lineman.  The second string running back, who had knocked them dead last week with a clutch performance, went down with a season ending knee injury. Time to blow out the Candle

Let me tell you where I’m at on things.

For over a year, I’ve been of the opinion that Jason Campbell is an adequate quarterback. This doesn’t mean that I believe he’s a pro-bowler, or that he is a shoe-in for the hall-of-fame; but adequate. Read the rest of this entry »

Dan Snyder and the XMB-5000

The office was large and plush. The 15-foot ceilings and large windows made even the largest of defensive linemen feel small. To one side was an equally large fire-place and in the middle or the room, with the windows behind it, was the desk of one Daniel M. Snyder.

Rain pattered against the glass of the enormous windows, and gave the night an even more ominous feel. The only light in the office was coming from the crackling fire in the aforementioned fireplace. Read the rest of this entry »

This Line is Offensive

As a staff member at theHogs.net that goes by the name JansenFan, I think it’s pretty apparent that I am a big fan of the big guys up front. It is my core belief that games are won and lost in the trenches, and my team used to believe that, too. Read the rest of this entry »

A Horse Walks into a Bar…

The Bartender asks; “Why the long face?”

How many of you realize that the Redskins actually won the game yesterday? Show of hands?

No seriously, they did.

Yes…they did. I wouldn’t lie to you, they won.

Yes, I know they only scored nine points, but nine is greater than seven.

Oh sure, they naysayers are saying “same old Redskins; only scored nine points. That won’t be enough to beat our tougher opponents.”

Consider this: Read the rest of this entry »
