Wallpaper Wednesday: Eagles Versus Skins – Kerrigan

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

Huge match up this week for the Redskins as they face their division rivals, and the team between Washington and first place in the NFC East – the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite only being week seven, this is the second time that the Redskins have played the Eagles already this year, with Philly winning on opening day. Losing this game would mean that the Eagles have the critical first tie breaker of head-to-head record.

So Ryan Kerrigan and the entire defense are going to have to find a way to shut down Carson Wentz and the Eagles offense.

Wallpaper Wednesday: Capital Punishment

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

Despite losing a tough one to the Chiefs on Monday Night, the Redskins have seen a marked improvement on the defensive side of the ball under new Defensive Coordinator Greg Manusky. Before the injuries piled up against Kansas City, Washington’s defense was playing with the same tenacity that it did against the Raiders.

It isn’t even tenacity, there’s an actual air of nastiness to it.

Teams are going to start fearing a Capital Punishment…

By The Numbers: Redskins vs Cardinals

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

Here are some of the more important numbers and statistics from the Redskins 30-20 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

407 – Yards of total offense for the Redskins. The Cardinals had 317.

354 – Yards passing for Kirk Cousins, on a 24 for 38 day; unfortunately 3 of those 14 incompletions were actually completions to Arizona Cardinals.

250 – Yards passing for Carson Palmer, who returned from a 5-game absence due to a nerve injury in his shoulder. He was 28 of 44, with 0 interceptions and 2 touchdowns. Read the rest of this entry »

By the Numbers: Jaguars

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

Here is a look at some of the more interesting and telling statistics and numbers from the Washington Redskins’ 41-10 dismantling of the Jacksonville Jaguars

449 – Yards of total offense. Not bad for a first year coach in just his second game, and missing his starting quarterback, his number 2 wide receiver and his tight end.

250 – Yards passing for Kirk Cousins. it was as solid a performance as you could ask for from your back-up quarterback. He finished the day at 22 of 33, but completed his first TWELVE passes.

191 – Yards rushing for Washington. The offensive line was stalwart against the Jags, they opened holes for everyone, especially between the tackles.

148 – Anaemic total yards for Jacksonville. Great job Redskins defense! Read the rest of this entry »

Redskins Overcome Injury Woes To Thrash Jags

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

Things looked bleak at Fed Ex Field early, when Robert Griffin III was carted off the field early in the first quarter; but when your back-up throws a touchdown on his first pass, it helps you move on quickly. Kirk Cousins and the Redskins overcame injuries not only to RGIII, but to receiver Desean Jackson, and a host of others, by putting in one of the most solid performances up and down the line-up in some time. The Jacksonville Jaguars were lit up by Washington 41-10, and were no match for a very determined Redskins bunch.

Its easy to get caught up in individual performances on Sunday – there were many good ones – but the Redskins head coach deserved as much credit as any. Read the rest of this entry »

By The Numbers: Raiders

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

It was a big win for the Redskins on Sunday, despite being just the fourth game of the regular season. Going into the bye week at 1-3 might not seem all that majestic, but with the Eagles and Giants at 0-4, and the Cowboys at 2-2, Washington is very much still in the thick of things in the NFC East thanks to the victory, despite the slow start.

Here is a look at some of the more interesting, and telling numbers and statistics from the Redskins 24-14 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Most of these stats are from the official NFL stats, and I got the NFL betting lines at TopBet.eu Sportsbook. Read the rest of this entry »

Ten Game Thoughts: Vikings

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

It was another roller coaster ride for Redskins Nation on Sunday, as the Redskins struggled early, and then struggled to put the Vikings away after dominating through most of the middle of the game. In the end, Robert Griffin III’s two rushing touchdowns, proved more than Minnesota could handle, and allowed Washington to come away a 38-26 victory – their first home win in nine tries. The loss ended a three game winning streak for the Vikings, and dropped them to 4-2 on the season.

Here are some thoughts about the game: Read the rest of this entry »

Camp Battles: LineBackers

news and informationbusiness,health,entertainment,technology

The Redskins linebacker group has had a tough couple of seasons after transitioning to the 3-4 defense. The 3-4 is a defense that works much better with a lead. However, with the lackluster performance the offense has displayed the defense has been tasked with keeping the team in games rather than attacking at will like it is designed to do. Most of the linebacker group was either a part of the transition from the 4-3 at a different position or came from a team where they played defensive line. The staff seems to have a knack for finding players that can make the transition well though, with Ryan Kerrigan and Brian Orakpo being super examples. In 2011, the team had good starting players but, depth was an issue, mainly because of inexperience. In 2012 however, the linebacker camp battles we will witness will be epic. If the defensive line and secondary can play better this season, the Redskins linebackers could rise to be the top threat in the NFC East. Let’s get to know a little about this group of players. news and informationbusiness, health, entertainment, technology

This afternoon, the Washington Redskins unveiled a tribute to the past with a pinch of modernity in their new uniforms that are set to be worn twice at FedEx Field this season in conjunction with their 80th Anniversary.
