2007 Season Recap:

Second year coach Eric Mangini, was trying to improve on his first year record of 10-6 but stumbled badly as the Jets finished the year with a disappointing 4-12 record. Winning only 1 of their first 9 games before the bye week, the Jets never got on track. Although hanging in most of the games (except NE – sound familiar), they could only muster less than 17 points per game finishing the year ranked near the bottom of all offensive categories. This wasn’t helped on the defensive side of the ball where they gave up a 29th ranked 135 yards per game. Many changes will be on slate for 2008 starting with the 6th overall pick in the draft, where they hope to get a run stopping DE.

Team Needs:

1. Defensive End – Playing the 3-4 defense, the Jets should be looking for a bull-rush type end who can put some pressure on the quarterback and stuff the run. Chris Long would fit that bill.

2. Cornerback – Physical shutdown corner (not easy to find) or at least someone to add some depth.

3. Offensive Line – Look for a run-blocking tackle to go with the youth they added in the 2007 draft, and interior lineman to add some depth behind Adrien Clarke and Brandon Moore.

2007 Draft Picks:

1st Round -- 6th Overall
2nd Round -- 36th Overall
4th Round -- 98th Overall
6th Round – 164th Overall
7th Round – 195th Overall
