Everything starts at the top, at the the top of the Washington Redskins pecking order you have the owner and Mr Vinny Cerrato. The roster is surprisingly built with 45.2 percent of the roster being players that the team drafted. Counting 2009 supplemental draft pick Jeremy Jarmon the Redskins have 24 players they selected. Twenty-two players were acquired thru free agency, three players were acquired as undrafted rookie free agents, two via trade and running backs Anthony Alridge and Marcus Mason were both claimed off waivers. For years, the front office has ignored offensive line depth in the draft and free agency other than a lower-round pick here or a young projects there. Now they have to shuffle the line again. With right guard Randy Thomas already out for the season, left tackle Chris Samuels will miss at least this week's game against the Kansas City Chiefs after suffering a neck stinger in last weeks game. The Redskins will move right tackle Stephon Heyer to left tackle and Mike Williams from right guard to right tackle. Heyer and Williams will actually be moving back to the positions they played when they entered the league.
Left guard Derrick Dockery was resigned as a free agent this off-season, and also is the last offensive lineman drafted (2003) by the Redskins in the top two rounds of the NFL draft. The lost of Samuels means the team will keep tight ends and running backs in for pass protection. This will limit quarterback Jason Campbell's targets down field including TE Chris Cooley. In fact Cooley’s 76 consecutive games with a catch streak was snapped last week and should be blamed on the chiefs, the Washington Redskins Chiefs.
This week the Kansas City Chiefs will be the fifth consecutive win-less team the Redskins have faced this season when they take on Washington, Sunday, Oct. 18. at FedEx Field. Kickoff is 1 p.m. ET. The Chiefs are coming off a 26-20 overtime loss in week five and are 0-3 against the NFC East so far this season.
With the offensive line full of backups the Redskins scaled back the playbook last week at Carolina to protect quarterback Jason Campbell. The team tried to establish the run but failed, wide receiver Santana Moss had just four catches for 44 yards and Cooley didn’t have a catch. The Redskins fell to 2-3 as they allowed the Carolina Panthers to gain their first victory of the 2009 season.
This will be the 8th meeting between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Washington Redskins. Kansas City leads the series 6-1 and will be only the second visits to Washington by Kansas City during the past 25 years.

-- The Redskins re-signed punter Glenn Pakulak to their practice squad. Pakulak was originally signed last Tuesday as a precautionary measure with regular punter Hunter Smith bothered by a groin injury. Pakulak was placed on the active roster on last Saturday. He averaged 42.4 yards gross and 35.6 net on five punts against the Panthers
-- DE Phillip Daniels, who tore his right biceps against Carolina, didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday but is expected to play Sunday against Kansas City. Veteran defensive lineman Reynaldo Wynn was resigned earlier this week for defensive line depth
