Sunday evening marked a very significant date in the Redskins future-to-be... jot it down somewhere. It was Sean Taylor's coming out party.

With every week that passes, the phenomenal young safety out of Miami U gets better and better. So much better in fact, that on a defense decimated with injuries, it is the rookie that has become the heart and soul of the second ranked defense in the NFL.

Gifted with exceptional physical ability, Redskin fans hoped that one day Taylor could become the league's best at a position filled with game-changers. While Taylor may not have earned the right to be compared directly to the Ed Reeds, the Brian Dawkins and the Roy Williams of the league, it looks more and more like it is only a matter of time.

Striking fear into the hearts of the opposition is Sean Taylor's forte, and with every passing minute on the field, he hones his ability. Whether it was the possibility of getting knocked out by Taylor or just a mind-skip, Todd Pinkston certainly looked like he was 'aware' of Taylor the first time he went across the middle Sunday night. Terrell Owens learned that as physical as he is, he better have his head on a swivel if he's on the same field as the Redskins #36. Even big old Hollis Thomas found out first hand that the first year sensation knows no fear when Taylor took him on willingly in the open field on a sweeping run.

By no means is Sean solely responsible for the magnificent performance of the Redskins' defense in 2004. But he has been an integral part. And with Gregg Williams surely finding more and more ways to make use of Sean's exceptional talent, this defense would seem to be Taylor-made.
