He has reportedly been dealing with some soreness in the shoulder this week since playing against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. He still remains listed as questionable on the injury report.
-> With Chris Cooley and Christian Fauria as the only tight ends on the roster, the Redskins added depth by signing veteran Todd Yoder on Tuesday.
Yoder has spent the last seven seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars. Known for his special teams performance and blocking, Yoder has only caught 28 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns.
-> Also on Thursday, the Redskins placed practice squad fullback Manuel White, Jr. on the practice squad-injured reserve list after having surgery on an injured knee this week. This is White’s second stint on injured reserve in as many years. He missed his entire rookie season with a fractured fibula.
To take his spot on the practice squad, fullback Nehemiah Broughton was brought back after being released to make room for the acquisition of Yoder on the active roster.
-> The Redskins placed safety Pierson Prioleau on injured reserve on Tuesday after the 8th year veteran tore his ACL in his right knee on the opening kickoff of the season opener against the Minnesota Vikings.
Prioleau, a valuable reserve safety and talented special teamer, was set to see significant playing time behind starting safeties Sean Taylor and Adam Archuleta this season.
To take his place, the Redskins re-signed safety Curry Burns to the 53-man roster. Burns was with the team throughout training camp but was released during the final round of cuts on Sept. 2.
-> Veteran safety Deke Cooper worked out for the team after Wednesday’s practice but was not signed. Cooper is a 7th year veteran who has spent most of his career playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers. He was signed by the Miami Dolphins in April but was released on Sept. 2. Cooper was NFL Europe’s defensive player of the year in 2002.
