The students of Burning Tree Elementary School held a benefit concert for Athlete's Against Autism*, Washington Capitals' goalie Olie Kolzig's charitable foundation. The benefit concert raised $834.54 for Triple A - a contribution so great, Kolzig spent May 30 at the school accepting the donation and educating over 200 of the Bethesda, MD school about the disorder.

Olie, who started Athlete's Against Autism after his son was diagnosed with Autism as an infant, thanked the children for their efforts, before taking questions from the gathered students about the malady.

Following the question and answer session, four students from Burning Tree presented the check to Kolzig, at which point, Olie announced he would match the contribution dollar-for-dollar. After the announcement, the Caps mainstay signed autographs for each child in attendance; they also received a Kolzig trading card and Caps rally towel.

Caps Notes:

The Hershey Bears, the Caps affiliate in the American Hockey League, begin their AHL Championship title defense against the Hamilton Bulldogs tomorrow, Friday June 1. The Bears earned the trip to the finals by sweeping the Manchester Monarchs in the Eastern Conference Finals.

On the Bears' roster for the finals, you will find seven players that spent time with the Caps this season. It is a good opportunity to see the Caps' stars of tomorrow in a playoff environment. For more information on tickets or to simply follow the action, check out the Caps official site or the online home of the Hershey Bears.

Also of note, the Caps will be hosting a draft day party at the Kettler Ice Plex on June 22. At the gathering of Caps fans, the team will reveal their new jerseys, rumored to be reminiscent of the Red, White and Blue jerseys of the Caps glory years in the ‘80s.
