Players of the GameWeek 6: Green Bay Packers

Offense: Chris Cooley
9 receptions, 105 yards, 1 receiving TD

Cooley was the source of the Redskins’ offensive firepower in the first half when the team failed to establish a running game and quarterback Jason Campbell struggled to consistently find receivers other than “Captain Chaos.” His 105 receiving yards set a career-high and his second quarter touchdown meant his fourth straight game with a score. He was almost non-existent in the passing game in the second half, catching only two passes for eight yards. Reserve offensive tackle Todd Wade was injured as was his replacement Stephon Heyer, forcing Cooley to turn into an added blocker.

Defense: Sean Taylor
3 tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, 4 passes defended

With the NFL’s top ranked passing offense on the field, Sean Taylor was targeted many times with Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre going deep. Taylor dropped three potential interceptions but caught two others, one coming in the fourth quarter, keeping the Redskins in the game and giving the offense another shot to redeem themselves. Taylor also forced a Ruvell Martin fumble in the second quarter.

Special Teams: Rock Cartwright
4 kickoff returns, 109 yards

Rock gave the Redskins offense an average starting field position of the 34 yard-line following his four kickoff returns. His most important return came late in the third quarter when he returned the ball to Packers territory with a 40-yard return. Rock has been giving the Redskins solid returns all season.
