By The Numbers - Broncos
Here are some of the interesting numbers and statistics from the Washington Redskins' hard-fought 27-17 victory over the Denver Broncos.
388 - Total yards for the Redskins offense in their best whistle-to-whistle outing of the season.
269 - Total yards of offense for the Broncos... in the first half alone! Unfortunately for the Broncos, they would manage just 36 yards in the second half, for a total of 305 yards.
193 - Yards passing for Jason Campbell, on a 17 for 26 day. Ironically, that's exactly what Kyle Orton had (11/18 for 193) before he got injured.
174 - Yards on the ground for the Redskins.
115 - Yards and 2 TDs for Brandon Marshall on his first 2 catches - 75 and 40-yard killers. Washington held him to just 19 more yards after that though, and Marshall finished with 5 catches and 134 yards.
114 - Yards rushing for Ladell Betts on 26 carries, in his first start in place of the injured Clinton Portis. What an amazing second half Ladell had, with 91 of those yards, and his touchdown coming on 18 tough runs after the half.
76 - The number on the back of the Redskin that was arguably the player of the game given his circumstances - Levi Jones.
41 - Yards rushing for Rock Cartwright on 9 carries - great performance.
40 - Rushing plays from the Redskins, out of 70 offensive plays run.
35 - Yard bomb from Hunter 'Slash' Smith to Mike Sellers, on a fake field goal that turned into a touchdown, and the game's probable turning point.
27 - Points scored by Washington - the most this year - it's 10 more than they've managed in any other 2009 game. Enough said.
18 - Yard reception for Quenton Ganther, who saw his first action in the burgundy and gold. He also had 3 carries for 4 yards, but his best play of the day was a great block he picked up in the backfield.
13 - Yards passing for Chris Simms, who went 3 for 13 in relief of Orton.
12 - Field goals on 12 attempts this year for Shaun Suisham - this one from 35 yards. You can't do any better than that; if it weren't for kicking two kick-offs out of bounds, he'd have been perfect.
10 - Different Redskins caught Jason Campbell passes.
9 - Tackles for Reed Doughty (7 solo, 2 assist), who put in a gritty performance after suffering a stinger in the second quarter.
5 - Different offensive line combos this year. This one played as well as any of them - in part due to the great aforementioned effort of Jones. Chad Rinehart also had his best game as a pro.
1.5 - More sacks for Andre Carter, as he makes his bid for a Pro Bowl with 8 sacks now in 2009.
1.5 - More sacks for Brian Orakpo too - that's 7 now in his rookie season, and with very limited time lining up with one hand on the ground. What a stud.
With the win, the Redskins move to 3-6 on the season, and now get to head into Dallas week on a bit of a high. Washington will make their first visit to the beautiful new Cowboys' stadium, in search of their first NFC East victory (0-2) of the season.
