CFL Kicker Medlock SignedThe Washington Redskins have signed Justin Medlock to a futures contract, and to compete with Graham Gano at place kicker.

Medlock spent the 2009 season in the Canadian Football league with the Toronto Argonauts. He was rock-solid for the Argos, making 40-of-46 field goal attempts, and all of his 22 extra points. He made seven of them in one game (B.C. Lions - August 14th, 2009), to equal a club record. The Fremont, California native also handled the kickoff and punting duties for Toronto for most of the season. He averaged 60.3 yards on 79 kickoffs, and had a 42.3-yard punt average.

Medlock was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs 160th overall (fifth-round) in the 2007 season. Despite the Chiefs using a draft pick and having him on their opening day roster, they cut him three days after he missed a 30-yarder in the opener against the Houston Texans.

In 2008, he was signed by the St. Louis Rams but was released before the season started.

Medlock went to college at UCLA, where he was a four year letterman. He made 70-of-88 field goal attempts, 147-of-148 PATs, and set a school record with six career field goals of 50 or more yards. As a senior, he was named to the Associated Press All-America first team, and was a Lou Groza Award semi-finalist. He was also named first team Pac-10 in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
