Draft Facts and Figures
The 70th Annual National Football League Player Selection Meeting is just around the corner. The actual selection process will begin at 12:00 PM ET Saturday April 23rd and run until approximately 10:00 PM ET that evening (rounds one through three). For comparison's sake, last year the first round consumed five hours and twenty-four minutes; the second, two hours and forty-seven minutes; and the third, one hour and fifty-six minutes. Teams are permitted fifteen minutes per selection in round one, ten minutes in round two and five minutes for all remaining rounds. Teams will resume selecting rounds four through seven beginning at noon on Sunday, April 24th.
The NFL will continue it's practice of limiting the college players present at the draft as only the following will be present: Texas RB Cedric Benson, Auburn RB Ronnie Brown, Michigan WR Braylon Edwards, California QB Aaron Rodgers, Miami CB Antrel Rolle and Utah QB Alex Smith
ESPN will televise the draft in its entirety. On Saturday, ESPN will carry the draft from 12:00 PM ET to the conclusion of the third round. On Sunday, ESPN will be on the air from 11:00 AM ET until the end of the draft.
