Redskins Draft Day PartyFedExField: The Washington Redskins hosted the third annual draft day party on the club level at FedExField. There were live radio broadcasts, television crews, as well as current and former Redskin players on hand for entertainment and autographs.

On the field, the Redskins set up an NFL experience for the fans. There was a field goal station where fans got the opportunity to attempt an approximate 20-yard field goal. A passing station was also available with blow up targets for wanna-be quarterbacks to showcase their talents.

Coach Joe Gibbs addressed the crowd prior to the start of the draft with Coaches Gregg Williams and Joe Bugel in attendance. As he did last year, he took a few questions from the crowd regarding the draft and the current state of the team.

The Redskins Alumni Association provided four Redskin greats for two autograph sessions. Wide receiver Roy Jefferson waded through the line of people signing memorabilia and shaking hands. H-back/tight end Don Warren also signed while people gasped at his Super Bowl ring. And of course no Alumni event would be complete with former teammates and lifetime friends, cornerback Pat Fischer and defensive end Ron McDole.

A new attraction at this year’s event was a tour of the player’s locker room. While it was clearly staged – Patrick Ramsey’s shoulder pads were visibly larger than that of Jon Jansen’s – it was still a novel inside look at the NFL life.

All in all, the Redskins Draft Day Party was fun for all. Between checking out the Super Bowl trophies, playing Madden in the X-Box video game exhibit, listening to Larry Michael and the Sports Junkies from the flagship station of the Washington Redskins, 106.7 WJFK, and being interviewed by Comcast SportsNet, this reporter had a full day of family fun and Redskins football.
