THEY LAUGHED AT DEION ..........BUT MARINO

Postby gambit187 » Mon Jan 12, 2004 8:35 pm

Do any of you guys think it is funny how Deion got mad fun of for wanting to be Atlanta's head coach, but Marino gets to be Miami's next GM with hummmm what qualifications.

He will get to have a huge learning curve aslong as he sells them luxury suites.

I just think it is alittle unfair thats all.

cant compare marinos impact in miami's to Deion's in atlanta. Marino has about the same stature Gibbs has in washington or Laundry in Dallas.

 The only thing is both Deion and      Saint Gibbs both know what a SuperBowl smell like. They both contributed dearly with theres My 2 cents

Marino will always be looked at like the QB that just could not push them over the top. He was a running game away from winning.

Imagine Gibbs and Marino both in Washington at the same time.

What would our stats look like then..WOW!!!! Thats big, but Gibbs did not need him :D

hes actually does not have the title of GM rather Vice President of Football Operations, Rick Spielman (their previous VP) is their new GM, and I think Deon wanting to be Head Coach! is a tad bit more ridiculous

Like you said, part of it is probably simple economics. We don't know what kind of say Marino will really have. And, besides Shula, Marino is the name most identified with the Dolphins. On the other hand, head coach is a position where you have nobody to hide behind.... besides the fact that Deion was more of a mercenary during his career and not really the "face" of the Falcons for any significant part of their franchise history.

Apples and Oranges.

I'm a big big Darrell Green fan... and he is a HUGE part of the 'Skins history. But, if he had come out and expressed interest in being the HC after Spurrier, I would've thought that was pretty crazy.

One thing to think about - Marino lives football and studies football for his stints on TV. I think he keeps up with it fairly well even if he isn't the best speaker in the world. He might not be anything more than an evaluator.

I bet Marino is just wringing his isotoners thinking about being back in football.
