Will Russ Grimm win the Bears coaching job?

... just curious on people's opinion.

I voted no. While I believe he is qualified and well regarded within the league, Lovie Smith has more name recognition and I'm pretty sure he has more experience. You hear about him a lot more during the course of a game than you hear about Grimm. Then again, I don't watch the Steelers very often so what do I know?

i don't think they'll give it to grimm... but i think grimm will be the steelers' OC. espn and cnnsi reported that malarkey is the top candidate for the bills job. i hope that doesn't happen. i want good things for grimm, but i want them to happen here. i want malarkey to stay in pitt, grimm to miss out on the HC job and to end up in dc. chances of that are shrinking, though, huh?

Oh i'd love to see Russ come here...

... but I'd almost feel bad. We already have Zampese and Bugel... Russ will get a lot more seniority and autonomy somewhere else.

But they won'y have Joe Gibbs... so it's still anyones guess as to what happens. incidentally, I voted no, but only because I don't think he will. I think he will be a great head coach someday, and though Lovie Smith will probably be the Bears' choice, I don't think it'll be the right one.

That's true. It's nice to think about the possibility of him coming here and being groomed as Gibbs' successor... but that's pretty far down the line, and there's no guarantee of anything.

I still have a hard time believing that he would be a candidate for any head coaching job (this soon) if not for Joe Gibbs coming back and making Grimm's name more prominent. Not that I wouldn't be happy for him if he benefited from that... but the whole thing did come out of nowhere! :o

I see Grimm being like Andy Reid... and Reid was just a 'lowly' QB coach before he got the big gig.

I agree that it would have come from left field, but we've learned this offseason that just about anything can happen.

Yep, that's always the first coach (that's successful) that comes to my mind as a similar situation.

Then again, you have your Campo's ! I think Russ could use more time with a REAL coach, and not some screamer like Coward in Pittsburgh. I mean, look at Millen. What's he doing that's so frickin' unique ? Calling people a "faggot" ? Christ. In his head, he's still a MLB. He needed to be brought up slowly through the ranks by Gibbs, or someone like him.

Not like our coach doesn't have a good relationship with their GM :-)

We can start the rumor right here... Champ's going to play with his brother Boss for the Lions' 1st rounder in 2004 and again in 2005.

ROTFALMAO

and they'll still have the same problem we did this year...... no pass rush, and no run stuffers, the secondary better be ready for some action.
