Oh, Riggo. I have to cross you here. Matt Bowen did a great job, in my eyes, for a brand new guy in a brand new system on a brand new team. Especially in practice ! :o

You kind of wonder though, if some FA might not be willing to sign for less money to come to the 'Skins figuring that they now stand a much improved chance to get to the playoffs and the ultimate goal, a SB ring. I know, most of the players out there now are all about the money, but there are bound to be some that want the ring more than the money, and would be willing to do what it takes to get there. And after all, isn't that the hallmark of a "Joe Gibbs Guy"?
R.I.P. Andrew McDonough 9/3/92 - 7/14/07. Love & miss you, #20.

Matt Bowen had 3 interceptions this season. He had the opportunity to have more than 10. Sure he hits hard, but the man needs to learn how to catch. I want Sean Taylor to come in, he'll be a rookie pro bowler.

I agree though, no need to sweat the details with the man around.

But don't relax.... let it build... sure it'll be tough, but when the season starts, you get to pop, and then enjoy a season like you haven't since...oh.... about... 1992.

thats my feeling right now. joe will take care of the small details-as we already know so well. 8)
Thanks for 10 years .

Does anyone know if Mike Anderson (Denver rb) is a free agent next year? He'd be very cheap and I think he's suffered from being stuck behind Portis et al in Denver. His straight ahead style seems to fit Gibbs's system.
One of the many great things about having Gibbs here is that I'll feel very good about whoever it is we sign/draft.

You don't pay a safety to catch balls, you pay them to make hits. I'll take a Matt Bowen making lots of hard hits and being in on lots of plays over a safety who can catch the ball. Sure, it would be a bonus, but let's keep our priorities in check.

Psummers... Your telling me that you'd rather have a slow safety who knows how to tackle, over a speedy, linebacker sized safety, who knows how to create turnovers. Now check me if i'm wrong, but since when do people prefer safeties that are hitters over ballhawks who can completely change the course of a game? Sean Taylor is both.

[quote="JohnnyRIGGO"]Look at our last top 10 picks...Chris Samuels, Lavar, and Champ...Kevin Jones is not in that company. If we want a somewhat veteran FA at any position its RB

Kevin Jones is premier

Postby TopHawg » Thu Jan 15, 2004 6:21 pm

If you have ever seen kevin Jones play you would know that he is going to be a premier back in this league. If you look at the defense you have young guys like Lavar and Champ (especially Lavar) who are consistant playmakers whom we can build around for the future. Thats one thing we lack on offense. RB is the perfect place to start with a fresh face. JOE GIBBS IS HERE FOR 5 YEARS. Why not take a back who will learn your system and be comfortable with it especially int he future. All these backs who are available in free agency are available not only b/c their contract is up but b/c they aren't a priority for the team they are leaving to resign b/c of injuries or attitude. Kevin Jones or Greg Jones are the perfect picks at the #5 spot. And look at our last top ten picks. Lavar-Furture hall of fame!, Champ-one of teh most overrated corners in the league and level of play has declined rapidly since rookie and sophmore yrs, Samuels-Good player, injured too much. Which reminds me we could use some depth at tackle later on in the draft.
