KELLEN WINSLOW JR

Ill be the first to admit hes a long shot given Gibbs penchant for building up interior lines. But heres some food for thought.#1 Gibbs and Zampese coached his father in San diego. PLUS JJ Jefferson our Director of Player Personnel was Kellen Winslow Sr's long time teammate in San Diego under AIR CORYELL.Jefferson was a star wide out back then..I just think everyone is very easily dismissing Winslow incorrectly.......The Redskins must consider his tremendous talents offensively.Remember Gibbs IS COMMITED TO THE RUN BUT HIS FRIST LOVE IS THE PASSING GAME AND HE SHOWED THAT IN THE LATE 80'S EARLY 90'S..ID LOVE FEEDBACK ON PEOPLES OPINION ON THIS

It's an interesting thing to think about, because of all the ties you mentioned. But when it comes down to it, I don't know if Winslow Jr. does enough of the "dirty work" to be a Gibbs kind of TE. I also doubt seriously that the 'Skins would use such a high draft pick to get him. But, maybe there is some scenario that would lead to the 'Skins trading down and having some extra picks... although some team is sure to grab Winslow Jr. pretty early.

I AGREE..But what sticks out in my mind is how much better Shockey makes the giants on offense.Hes a mismatch nightmare for our skins.Id love to return the favor By matching winslow against dawkins, williams etc in our division.our defensive line can possibly be addresed thru free agency.and running back we can take Chris perry or Greg Jones in the second round .....I just feel we must look at Winslow

I said pretty much what Mezzskin does in the K2 thread. Still, Rasby would be a cheaper option, and he doesn't mind blocking 90% of the time. You could get him for the veteran's minimum, I'm sure. He'd love to play for Gibbs, after seeing what Joe & Co. did with Didier, Warren and MacKenzie. IMHO

RASBY DOES REMIND ME OF RON MIDDLETON...ID LOVE TO GET EITHER KLEINSASER OR JASON DUNN THRU FREE AGENCY IF WINSLOW ISNT TAKEN ...BOTH ARE GREAT BLOCKING TE'S AND ARE MUCH BETTER RECIEVERS THAN RASBY.....BUT THERE LOOKS TO BE SOME VALUE AT RB IN THE SECOND ROUND AND DL IS CRAP SHOOT EVEN AT THE 5 SPOT ....WINSLOW WILL CONTRIBUTE JUST LINING UP AT THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE...HE MUST BE ACCOUNTED FOR

Middleton ! That was the name I was looking for, no MacKenzie ! Thanks, my brother. You might find it interesting to know that Rasby has never lost the ball, once he has it. He's an excellent posession receiver, maybe not so great with RAC numbers. Still, a cheap and viable alternative to a draft pick that could be traded down to recover what we lost last year with the Bowen trade and others...
For Zimmerman, I'm working on that right now. Stay tuned.

INTERESTING STAT ON RASBY ...NO REASON WHY WE CANT HAVE BOTH RASBY AND WINSLOW....I DONT FEEL COMFORTABLE TAKING UDEZE HARRIS WILFOLF ETC.REMEMBER LAST YEAR ALL THOSE "CANT MISS' DL'S WERE IN THE 1ST. AND WHAT HAPPENED ..LIKE ONLY 1/5
OF THEM SHOWED ANY SIGNS OF SUCCESS.RB? WE CANT TAKE JONES IN THE 5 SPOT....THE ONLY OTHER PERSON I CAN SEE US TAKING IS SEAN TAYLOR...NOW THATS A STUD...HE MIGHT BE BETTER THAN ROY WILLIAMS

I've been making many of the same points about Winslow Jr. He's got some baggage -- mostly that he's reluctant to mix it up inside -- but so did his father early in his career.

What he's got in abundance is athleticism, and that's something you can't teach. I completely agree with your point about Shockey causing matchup nightmares for defensive coordinators, but here's an even scarier thought: Imagine having to commit a safety to doubling up Winslow when you know you already have to be afraid of Laveranues Coles beating you deep. For that matter, try to imagine a linebacker staying with Winslow 40 yards down the field.

Assuming the Redskins can address their defensive line needs elsewhere in the draft or free agency, I'm at least as high on drafting Winslow as I am a running back. And, for the record, I disagree with those who say Winslow isn't worth the No. 5 pick. I think you'll see his stock rise dramatically once he goes to the combines.

EVEN IF HE CATCHES LIKE 35 PASSES IN HIS FIRST YEAR ...COMBINED THAT WITH THE FACT THAT ROY WILLIAMS AND DAWKINS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ROAM FREELY AROUND THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE BUT INSTEAD THEY MUST ACCOUNT FOR WINSLOW AT ALL TIMES..LOOK AT THE GIANTS IN SHOCKYS FIRST YEAR..THEY COUPLED SHOCKEY WITH DAN CAMPELL AND THEY FORMED A GREAT BLOCLING/RECIVEING COMBO.....ALOT REDSKIN FANS HAVE DISMISSED WINSLOW ...I DONT SEE THAT

Kellen Winslow is crazy good, but I dont think TE is our biggest priority in the draft. Unless we get multiple first round picks, I say forget about Kellen. Having a speedy TE who creates matchup problems is nice, but having a RB who runs a 4.26 forty is even nicer.(Kevin Jones)
