Good Segment On ESPN About Dexter

Postby Jake » Mon Jan 19, 2004 10:27 am

I saw a really moving piece an ESPN about Dexter Manley. It mentioned that when he gets out of jail in March, he plans to move to the D.C. area and open up a drug rehab center. I hope he gets over his circumstances for good very soon. probably the most moving part was when his son was interviewed and he said that Dexter has a new grandbaby that was born when he was in jail. I hope that Dexter actually learns from his mistakes and not saying he does and then he goes back to where his problems are.

I think ESPN is trying to beat HBO's Real Sports before they air their piece on Dexter.

Someone on this board mentioned when Dexter's piece. I think ESPN has done that before: Airing a segment on the same topic before or after HBO. I think on of the topics ESPN did along w/ HBO was about Ricky Henderson trying to get back to the majors.

Based on my experiences as a prosecutor and as a former Probation/Parole Officer, I've learned one thing when it comes to people with a drug addiction problem:

It doesn't matter who tells them to clean up: their spouse, their family, their church, the Courts, etc.!

They won't get clean and stay clean until THEY MAKE THE DECISION to do so!!

I'm really pulling for Dexter to (finally) make that decision. Hopefully, he can help some troubled folks in the D.C. area.

I think it would be a good idea for Dexter to get involved with Darryl Green & Company....
