but a horrible 4th and 3 play call and a subpar performance against a mediocre charger defense should be noted

WRONG - there is nothing of 'note' to be taken from what Gruden did during this game ...

Jay Gruden has established himself as one of the top candidates for HC job by what he has done over the past few years

this game was only his last game for the Bengals is all ...

we hear that he's having dinner with Bruce tonight - hopefully he's one of the final 3

well that answered absolutely none of my questions...but thanks for letting me know they're having dinner tonight!

I'm surprised ken wisenhunt or todd bowles aren't on that list...do you know why? or it just hasn't been reported yet?

I understand that it doesnt or shouldn't matter if they are offense or defensive minded coaches when it comes to a HC but IMO it should be someone with a defensive background. I like McDermott and Zimmer to be quite honest with you. I would also be ok with them going outside the box with Bisaccia or Franklin. When Franklin was at Maryland I just got the feeling that he was a special coach.

I'm pretty sure they requested to interview Whisenhunt.

I think ultimately I would like to see Wisenhunt here. Seems like a quality coach and very good with QB's. He took Arizona to the Super Bowl for crying out loud. That is a feat in itself.
Miss you 21

Whisenhunt is pretty much guaranteed the Lions job (or so I've heard) unless he doesn't want it.

I like Whisenhunt too, but you're really whitewashing his stint in Arizona. He went to the Super Bowl and did pretty well with Kurt Warner. His last three years without Warner though were pretty much a disaster:

2010: 5-11
2011: 8-8
2012: 5-11

He finished with an 11 game losing streak in 2012. His QBs during that time: Matt Leinart, Derek Anderson, Max Hall, Rich Bartel, John Skelton, Kevin Kolb, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer. The Kolb trade is especially noteable. I'm not sure that track record is looks much better than what we got from Mike Shanahan, are you?

Jay Gruden is in as HC ... out
Minds are like parachutes, they only work when they are open

RG3 will benefit from having a full off season to prepare and a better 'fit' at both HC and OC
