Movie watching theme weeks.

Postby flamethrower » Wed Apr 05, 2017 5:30 pm

May 4 has become Star Wars day.
I wonder what day is put aside to watch Batman, or other hero movies?
Memorial day weekend traditionally shows World War 2 movies, or other war movies.
I wonder what weekend would be nominated for Indiana Jones series?
How about Star Trek movies? Don't they deserve a day? Star Wars has one May 4th.
I don't like going to department stores on Black Friday, or that whole weekend. I already named it Universal/Hammer horror weekend.
How about Wizard of Oz? Any special day put aside for it?
How about a James Bond 007 weekend? When would you want that?
I could continue, but I feel I gave enough good choices to pick.
I hate modern horror. Nothing but gore, and blood. But, if you would rather watch them than universal, or hammer horror. I got no problem with that.
Mission Impossible can be substituted for James Bond 007 if you would rather watch them.
Matrix is also a great movie series.

June 6:

- "The Longest Day", for the the Normandy landings as we learned about them in "Star Spangled War Comics" and from our dads and our friends' dads.
- "Saving Private Ryan", for what our dads left out. They probably wanted to spare us and maybe wanted to forget. My Uncle Jimmy Naylor, Seat Pleasant, MD and 29th Division (the lead division at Omaha beach) refused to see "Saving Private Ryan", saying, "I saw it for real. I don't need to see it again in some movie".

I saw "Saving Private Ryan" on the flight to Kuwait. OK movie, but not as good as The Longest Day was. But, I'm not gonna rip it apart. My granduncle served, and was on D-Day. He said the same thing about Saving Private Ryan.
