I really hate the ads in the middle of threads... they absolutely destroy the flow of the conversation.

What Ads? I'm not seeing any ads in threads.

Now, how wierd is this? Twice, I logged in this afternoon, from different PC's... and both times, there was a banner ad after every 4 or 5 posts.... right in the middle of a page... a variety of ads from BetUs.com...

Not doing it now, though. Perhaps a glitch with the ads...

If that's the case, then just put this on ignore (and perhaps file for future referrence...)

Could be... but didn't do it before, and hasn't since. I suspect some type of run time glitch when the ad routines were loading...

I have noticed that if you don't login, you will see ads in the middle of the page. Maybe somehow you thought you logged in and didn't or there was a glitch in the system. Either way, the site needs to get paid (that is not a sarcastic remark).

Understood. That explains what happened, btw... I had to login using IE, instead of Netscape... meaning that there was no automatic login... and I just went straight to the boards without logging in...

I also understand that the site needs to get paid (thank you, very much, sponsors)... but if I had to see that all the time, I'd probably go nuts...

no, I mean REALLY nuts...

The ads are only visible to UNREGISTERED members of the board. They can be removed simply by registering (for free). There has been text at the top of the board denoting this fact for quite a long time.

If any of you actually supported the site on a regular basis, we wouldn't need ads... but you don't... so we do.

The money is good? Not familiar with internet impression advertising eh? (you get about 30-40 CENTS for every 1000 ad impressions). The $1 or $2 a day that the ads earn is giving us all fat wallets I know, but we have to offset some of the costs some way.

So you can hate the ads that come up, and I can hate that there are so many people that spend so much time here and never do a thing to contribute to keeping the site up and running.

My 2 cents

The ads aren't going anywhere, sorry.

How does a poster make a contribution to thehogs.net? If you're going to allow people like myself to eat valuble server space with mindless ramblings, I feel it's the least I can do.

I forgot to add I don't happen to have a PayPal account. Is there another way of making a donation?

If men can run the world, why can't they stop wearing neckties? How intelligent is it to start the day by tying a little noose around your neck?

I've hit all of the links. I just wanted to know if we can make a cash donation without using PayPal. I was part of a class-action lawsuit against PayPal because they were charging my business credit card for fees I never agreed to pay. I won the suit, they cut me a check, and now they don't want me as a PayPal client. Hard to figure, isn't it? :P

You don't need an account to use PayPal, as you can just use your credit card. I don't have an account and I've used PayPal in several contexts without any problems.

If they don't even want your name attached to a web payment, then use your wife's card. . .or even a friend and give them cash on the spot. This can't be a serious hurdle for you.
