The Redskins today released cornerback Rashidi Barnes and punter Brent Bartholomew.

What's more, Spurrier specifically cited the fact that Barnes played poorly on special teams as the reason for his exit. Let's hope folks start waking up and taking notice!

Amen to that Newshog - there were three different times against the Pats that we looked like sandlot kids covering kicks - after being a Virginia Tech fan so long I have a hard time watching bad special teams.

This is one of the things I really like about coaches like Tom Landry and Bill Parcells (yes, two enemies but very good coaches). They absolutely make it clear they do not tolerate mediocrity. Landry once cut his first round draft pick for fumbling a kickoff in preseason. This sends a clear message.

I would have liked to see someone like Johnson cut as well, but at least the special teams cut is a start.
