Let me make a little point here since there had been talk the past 2 years about getting a DTackle in the first round.
Last year was a big class for DTackles and most of the 1st rounders had a very average season if not a busted season (Jimmy Kennedy/Jonathan Sullivan).
DTackles are similar to WR's in terms of development time.
A good example is Kris Jenkins, I think he was taken in the 3rd round a couple years ago and now is regarded as one of the top (if not THE top) DT's in the game.
So, when it comes to the D line the Skins need to bring in a Veteran to tutor a diamond in the rough type. Another example is Dan Klecko of the Patriots, I think they got him in the 5th or 6th round last year and you heard his name more than Ty Warren who was taken in the 1st round by the Pats too.
The 5th overall pick is a rare luxury, last time we had something like that we got LaVar. So lets hope Snyder uses that pick to get an impact player, not an experiment.
PS, if we got Kearse, Sapp, *Sean Taylor (if he really is the next Roy Williams), and a mid round Klecko type DT tackle...to go with LaVar, Bailey, Smoot, and Bowen...well enough said.
Oh, I read an article today that said Greg Jones is cut like the Hulk. Sounds like a lot of depth at RB this year too.

power and speed that kills. but everybody including mel kiper thinks joe will take winslow at the #5 pick in the 1st round.

I love Greg Jones but he's not the kind of premier back that is going to be taken in the first round he'll still be they're in the second for us. Screw Mel Kiper. If I have to hear him say we're gonna take Winslow at 5 one more time I'm gonna go Kiper hunting. Forget Winslow we're gonna take Taylor we have to. Why pass on the best athlete in the draft. |
