What's your opinion of him? I suppose I had a somewhat positive one of him being a guy who knew his stuff regarding the draft. But I just saw this NFL Live segment and my opinion of him has just dropped 10 fold.
Basically he was chatising the Dolphins for taking Chad Henne in the 2nd round as they have that 2nd round quarterback from last year. He said when you have a young quarterback you can't draft another as that shows no confidence in him. The other panalists were all dumbfounded. They were like "so you don't bring in any competition." Kiper just goes "No not with a quarterback."
Then he said if they wanted a quarterback they should have drafted Ryan #1. He said a bunch of other irrational, black and white comments that were beyond sensible. And he was so angry and intense about it. What a dork. |

I think what he is saying is that if you have a team with an unusual amount of needs and a qb you already plan on developing, you don't bring in chad henne because he will not be an upgrade on what you already have and probably will not fill a need. In general, Mel knows his stuff. The NFL draft is about as much an inexact science as it gets, and he is proven correct repeatedly. |

I happen to agree with Kiper. I think Chad Henne sucks. He spear headed that horrific loss to the DIvison 2 school.
He then faked an injury and skipped the next game.
Henne has a rifle for an arm. Is a big guy. He just does not have the intangibles to be an elite Qb.
If not for Mike Hart and Jake Long and a couple other defensive players, the Wolverines would have imploded last year. I actually like the old coach too. Henne sucks thats my opinion. Parcells just wanted to bring in his own guy plain and simple. |

How can you argue with the Dolphin's proven run of recent success?!? If the Ted Ginn pick doesn't say "We know drafting!", nothing does. |

I agree. I think the best policy is to pick the player who is most likely to help the team the most. They could probably found a player who would have been bigger upgrades at their positions than Henne will be at QB. The Fins can't afford the luxury of stockpiling players at any 1 positions. They just have too many needs. |
