I really think we could land this guy next year. He is a very talented underrated player. He is currently playing for the Titans. I watched this guy destroy numerous linebackers and defensive ends on pulling plays.
Here is the best thing. There are alot of young talented tackles due to become free agents in 2010. I mean alot of free agents in 2010 are coming from the offensive line. So teams will scramble to resign or if they cannot means these young players land in a new home.
Amano is an underrated player. But, I believe he is an elite guard. So you will get so much more then what you pay for if he gets market value. Here is a link to a list of all the free agents in 2010.
Eugene Amano, Tennessee Titans (27) OL/G 6-3 310lbs

| Is he right or left? We have a left guard for now and it would be ideal to pull a guard from the right and put him right. |

Here is a link to the Tennessee Titans player profile. Eugene Amano actually can play center as well. The Titans currently have Kevin Mawae starting at center who is also due to become a free agent. So Eugene is versatile.
As far as left or right guard, I dont think it makes much of a difference IMHO. A good guard can play the left or right side. In my opinion a good guard can even fill in at tackle from time to time. I am pretty sure if you asked Faneca or Hutchinson to fill in at tackle do would do ok. Maybe not as good as the elite but I am sure they would hold up ok.

Amano is big Filipino guy. Not very many Pinoys in the NFL. They usually don't get that big.....I know my peeps.
But yeah, he is a solid player that would be an upgrade for us for sure....if we can get him. |

| Will he actually be a FA next year? I truly believe that next year will be uncapped now, and with no CBA in place that changes all the FA rules. |

If I recall from when I looked a few weeks ago, he has been around long enough for FA. Could be wrong though. |

Sorry for the late reply. In a normal year NFL requires a player to have played four years to be eligible to be an unrestricted FA. In an uncapped year it changes to six. After this year Eugene would have played seven. So he is ok.
The Titans may give him an extension before seasons end. But, if not I hope we grab him. If any of you have a chance to catch a Titans game he really stands out. Especially on running plays. |

| It totally comes down to costs. Experienced lineman come at a cost always and I would imagine he would want Dockery money. My hope is that we pick up one in the draft. We'd save a ton of money. I would rather we use the cap to get rid of some older, experienced players who are dragging us down (Portis). |
