Mara: Fassel's job is safe - for now
New York Daily News: "He can add a few more scars after watching the Giants lose 27-7 to the lowly Atlanta Falcons - a game even the players admit they had no excuse to lose. Mara saw what happened. He heard the boos. And he heard the chants of 'Fire Fassel.' But yesterday he did not sound like an owner ready to give up on his coach."

If no miracle, plenty of candidates
New York Daily News columnist Gary Myers: "The favorite: Former Jaguars coach Tom Coughlin, an assistant to Bill Parcells on the Giants' second Super Bowl team in 1990. They wanted him 10 years ago. He figures to be at the top of the list again. Keep an eye on: LSU coach Nick Saban, Patriots offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, Cowboys offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon, Patriots defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel and Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, who all have roots in the Parcells/Bill Belichick coaching tree."

Maybe Huizenga can light a fire under Wannstedt
Palm Beach Post (registration required): "After their worst loss in two years, the Dolphins and their crumbling 5-4 season are crying out for a bold move. Owner Wayne Huizenga should make that move today by telling coach Dave Wannstedt there's no next year."

I read some stories that said the Giants would actually consider hiring Marty Schottenheimer. That boggles my mind.
