The media are really making a big deal out of this story today, kind of infuriating though. Seems like the same idiots who were up in arms over Shanahan drafting Cousins, are now going crazy because he should have waited to name RGIII the starter apparently.

Its not everybody though. I've heard a lot of comments that this move takes the question off the table. RGIII doesn't have to answer questions about it for the next four months. It certainly shuts up the idiotic notions about a competition between Griffin and Cousins.

I love the move personally. We all know RGIII is the man here. Sounds like he is going to have a chance to learn on the job from day one. I also like knowing that the Shanahans are interested in seeing Grossman under center again about as much as the rest of us are.

Nothing wrong with acknowledging the reality that RGIII is on a different plane than Grossman or Cousins. Someone has to get the first-team reps from day one. There is no sense throwing only 1/3rd of them at the man everyone knows will start.

Yep. About the reps, I think I heard Grant Paulsen describe the weekend as RGIII got 80% of the first team reps with Crompton making up the difference. And Grossman/Cousins split the second team reps. Just thought that was kind of interesting, especially the Grossman v. Cousins part.

^ Yes, the Grossman - Cousins part is very interesting - 50- 50. Does this mean that Shanny is giving Cousins a chance to battle for the #2 this year?
If I heard Paulsen correctly, he said just that.

curious? in what way

there is little doubt that the QBs here on Sept. 9th are

1 - RGIII

2 - Grossman

3 - Cousins

getting to that point is just a matter of time Laughing

I think the fact that we signed him, and he taking reps w rgiii says he has a chance to.be number 3 behind cousins. If rex does his same crap in camp we could possibly cut or try to trade him.
I get your drift I'm just saying I'm curious to how he does, let me know what Mike says

From another thread:

I risk sounding like an idiot on this one but here it goes.

The "excitement" around RGIII is generally brought up in its negative aspect - "let's not get so excited that we mortgage our future for the latest eye candy" type stuff. I get that. It could be a mistake. On the other hand ...

There is a lot to be said for an entire city being excited. Imagine the feeling in this town if that guy ends up in B&G. Crowds at home games would be more heavily home-team crowds, the stadium would be packed, and the fans would be JACKED. The players would be jacked as well. I think the spirit of the team would soar. If he has any success at all we become a much more attractive destination for good free agents too.

I think there is a lot more to be said about this but you don't need to read more from me. I think he's the right move at the right time.

Football is truly a game of emotion. Flat teams lose to spirited teams - almost every time.

Anyone feeling it?

Anyone buy a jersey yet? Got one for my son.

Anyone planning on finally going to some games?

Hail yeah!

I understand your point better now - I just don't see them keeping 4 QBs

RGIII is obvious

Grossman is both insurance and to help the other 3 - THAT IS ALL

Cousins is a bonus - we did not expect to get such a good QB
HOPEFULLY Cousins can get up to speed really soon

again - I don't see these guys keeping 4 AND we are NOT starting the season without Grossman, even as bad as he is

this franchise has really had a lot of good things happen with player acquisitions the past 14 months

as they say - we are ahead of ourselves Laughing

what a lot of difference having a decent FO makes - eg stupid Jerrah taking a CB when Barron is sitting there

HOPEFULLY, as we see better play on the field - the stadium might begin to be noisier than some of the visiting teams supporters
