THE THN END OF SEASON AWARDS CEREMONY
"Good evening! Welcome to the first annual Hogs.Net End of Season Awards Ceremony with me your host Ricky Gervais. This is an evening to celebrate the hard work and effort put in by the playing staff of the Washington Redskins over the last season, with each of the winners chosen by the fans themselves, namely those die-hard souls who frequent the message boards at The Hogs.Net.
We have six categories in total, so we have six Golden Hogs to hand out.
I'll try not to take too long about this, I'm getting a lift home from Brandon Meriweather after so it's probably in my best interests to keep it quick!
Ok, so the first category of the evening is for Play of the Season. The nominees in this category are;
Ryan Kerrigan, for his interception and touchdown against The Giants back in week one.
Roy Helu, for his hurdle of Seattle's Roy Lewis in a 28 yard run for a touchdown in week twelve.
And the winner of The Golden Hog is.........
RYAN KERRIGAN!
And we can see that play now....

Our next category is a little bit different from the rest, it's for the guy that no matter what we did we just couldn't stop him and single handedly he was the reason The Redskins lost the game. I see Rex is looking a little nervous in his seat over there..... Don't worry, this one's not for you.
This is for Best Performance by an Opponent. And the nominees are;
Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills
Rob Gronkowski, New England
Cam Newton, Carolina
David Buehler, Dallas
Joe Webb, Minnesota
And the winner is..........
ROB GRONKOWSKI!!!!
Sadly Rob can't be with us tonight, but receiving the award on his behalf is someone else who peformed well against The Redskins last season, John Beck!
The next category is an interesting one, it's Rookie of the Season.
There was a big influx of rookies into DC before last season, and each of them played a big part at some point in the season, which all bodes well for the future.
However we only have one nominee in this category as the voting was so one sided.
The winner of The coveted Golden Hog is someone who played every down on defense last season...
It's RYAN KERRIGAN again!
Now on to the main awards, firstly it's the award for Defensive Player of the Season.
The nominees are;
DeAngelo Hall
Ryan Kerrigan
London Fletcher
And the winner of The Golden Hog is.......
RYAN KERRIGAN!
It's turning into quite a night for young Ryan isn't it....?
It's now time for Offensive Player of the Season. The nominees in this category are;
Roy Helu
Jabar Gaffney
Fred Davis
And the Golden Hog for Offensive Player of the Season goes to......
ROY HELU!
OK, so we've come to the final award of the evening, it's the main award for Overall Player of the Season.
Once again there are no nominees this time, such was the overwhelming majority of support in favour of one player.
He's been the leader of this team through some lean times in the past, he'll continue to be a leader of this team as it moves forward to better things, he's the top tackler in the NFL, he's a Pro Bowl linebacker, and now he's the first ever winner of The Golden Hog for Player of the Season!
He's the ageless wonder that is....
LONDON FLETCHER!
a BIG thank you to everyone who voted, thanks for tuning in, see you again next year!
OK, so where's the bar...? I need to find Brandon for that lift...."

Good work my friend. Thankfully, Ricky Gervais only featured as a still photo, as everything he says or does makes me want to punch him (or anybody near me at the time).
No argument with any of the final results either! |
