There is a way to do it but you guys would just have to trust me that I won't cheat.
In my $ league the guys know and trust me so what I did was just write everyone's names down, put it in a bag, shook it up and from 1-whatever (in here would be 14) I just put the name with the pick. They were cool wit it so if you guys are cool wit it I can do it now.

You could go to this site:
http://www.random.org/integers/
and generate the numbers 1-14 in random order. For example, I just did it and got

6.
You could then assign the numbers you get to our teams which are listed alphabetically in the Manager List which is under the League tab.

I think the issue is WHEN. Yahoo! will do it 30 minutes before the draft. Some are hoping to know their positions sooner for planning purposes.

You do understand what random means, right? In this case, it means you don't get to know your position beforehand. It'd also be nice to know the order of the deck before it's dealt.

No it doesn't mean that in this case. We DO know beforehand - just only 30 minutes instead of a day or more. Either way it's equally "random" though it's not actually random either way. I don't think you were up on where the thread was. Your post indicated that. You rolled your eyes at me giving LPJ an alternative to "pieces of paper in a hat" so that the draft order could be just as random as what Yahoo! does without having to wait until 8:00 pm on draft day.

I totally understood what you were proposing. I just shot it down. Part of FF drafting is not knowing your draft order until 30 minutes before the draft. Deal with it. If this was a keeper league with the same players every year, I could see setting the draft order early... |
