Sounds likely. Here is the Post: ... ontgomery/
The Washington Redskins have informed center Will Montgomery that he will be released, the ninth-year veteran confirmed Friday morning.

Montgomery, a former Centerville High School star and Virginia Tech standout, had spent the past six seasons with the Redskins, starting at center for the past three. He saw time at guard in 2009 and 2010.

Coaches believed that Montgomery’s effectiveness had started to diminish during the 2012 season, and last offseason, they planned on moving left guard Kory Lichtensteiger to center and starting 2012 third-round pick Josh LeRibeus at left guard. But LeRibeus reported for duty between 30 and 40 pounds overweight and did not dress for a single game in 2013. Lichtensteiger remained at left guard, and Montgomery at center.

The Redskins entered this offseason seeking to upgrade their line. They signed guard Shaun Lauvao on Tuesday, and he is expected to step in at right guard, where Chris Chester has started. It remains unclear if Chester remains in the team’s plans, or if LeRibeus, or 2012 fifth-round pick Adam Gettis, is the answer at left guard.

Montgomery, who signed a four-year, $12 million contract in 2012, would have counted $3.43 million against the salary cap this season. Releasing him saves Washington $1.92 million. His dead cap figure is $1.5 million.
