Spurrier's Comments About Smith's Achievment.

Postby Jake » Mon Dec 08, 2003 6:43 pm

I think it was right after yesterday's game (it could have been today's press conference) when Spurrier was asked about Bruce's sack record and contributions to the team. Spurrier looks down at the microphone and sarcastically whispers "The team, the team..." because he knows how selfish Smith is and he probably is reflecting on Smith asking Snyder for more playing time instead of having the guts to ask Spurrier himself. Spurrier also says "Bruce is just another defensive end on the team."

I cracked up when I saw this on Comcast Sports Net (before I cracked up regarding the Peppi Zellner jabs. This is so cool that the past week has been "Pile On Mr. Sack Record Week". His selfishness the past three years has finally come down to this week. I don't really like saying this but I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE GETTIN' WHAT'S BEEN COMIN' TO YA, BRRUUUCCE!

I think it is good for this organization, that Bruce Smith got the sack record. Bruce Smith has been doing his thing for years and has never taken off a play. I think you have to be selfish at some point in the game achceive indiviual stats. I just wish he would have gotten alot more sacks than the two he has.

The objective of a TEAM sport is to put your team first in front of your personal motives or personal accomplishments. You would think the being a 19 year veteran, he would know what being a teammate is. Football is not a game for indivduals.

I agree :D Bruce Smith is a pass rusher and sacking QBs is his game.

I disagree. Each person on a team should have personal goals. Each person on a team will have goals or will be riding the pine

I would agree with your statement if Bruce was missing Football practice to go singing or something.

How is that puting the team before your needs? I do think the guy can chew bubble gum and walk at the same time :)

Football is also a team sport that each indivual most contribute to. Yeah Bruce Smith said he wanted the sack record and the worst thing he could have done was just that. I really dont think peaople start hating on him until then :x

I also know that if we were in the playoff hunt we would not be here talking junk about a major Football Football accomplishment!!!

On the flipside, if L Cole said he wanted to be the alltime TD maker and took us to six Superbowls championships by doing it we would be O.K., right :?:

Bruce getting the sack record has not hurt this team at all. :D :D

I respectfully disagree. Bruce Smith will always be known as a Buffalo Bill that just happened to finish his career as a Redskin. When this man gets admitted into the Hall of Fame (which, of course, he will), do you actually think he's gonna go in as a Redskin?

I think the proper accolade may be, "THE ALLTIME SACK LEADER WAS A REDSKIN (AT THE TIME)"
