Favorite Redskin

Postby redskins56 » Sun Jan 11, 2004 10:54 pm

Aside from the big names...

Who is your favorite Redskins backup. Special teamer, five play a game, minimal role contributor. I am interested to find out because all you ever hear about is the core group of players on the roster, and I want to know who you like that doesn't get the publicity...

The best Redskin that someone from California that doesn't follow the burgundy and gold has never heard of...

For my money it is full back and special teamer Bryan Johnson. He is a consament professional, who goes about his business, and comes to play every Sunday.

After giving it a lot of thought Redskins56, I think I tend to agree with you. Johnson is my guy, too.

Solid, favorite, and doesn't contribute as much eh?

How about Kevin Mitchell?

That's probably mine. Guy just keeps showing up and doing what's asked of him every year.

I take McCants if he's not considered too prolific, but I didn't know if he qualified as 'lesser known'.

But if you like 'underdogs' go to Camp... there will be a dozen fringe players to route for... last year Scott Cloman and Richmond Flowers were probably my two faves that got cut.

One player I love and want to see on the field more this year is Chad Morton, why we didn't use him more on 3rd down is beyond me.

I've been singing that tune since Chad got here, and totally agree.

Though I figure he didn't qualify, as he's fairly high profile.

I like Rock Cartright. For us vertically challenged guys it's great to see Rock smash-mouth the opponents big guys.

He's a FA that I'm sure will get one of those veteran minimum deals that are so cap friendly too.

Small role -- big importance. And as you said... you never hear his name. Perfect.

I don't know what his latest status with the team is at the moment, but I feel like Sultan McCullough should be given a long hard look at. Decent size, blazing speed, and a motivated special teams player. I don't know what the team's plans are at RB, but I would hope that Sultan and Betts would be a part of them.

My all time favorites: Chris Samuels, Ricky Sanders, and Tydus Winans.

Current favorites: Darnerien McCants (he is the closest to being on my all time favorites list), Bryan Johnson, and Kevin Mitchell.

Next favorites on the current team: Gibran Hamdan, Sultan McCullough, and Scott Cloman.

Rock has been one of my favorites since he signed! But since he got so much playing time this year I'll go with Kevin Mitchell. Just an all around consistent, hard-nosed and vital cog in the machine.

McCants, Mitchell and Rock

Smoot would lead my list, but I think he's a big name
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.
