Well, it's getting a little tedious making avatars for everyone, so we are going to have some new avatar rules. i hope you all like the changes.

The main reason that we did NOT allow avatars was for modem users and so their pages did not take forever to download. But my sanity is important too Smile

So from now on I am going to allow all users the ability to have an avatar... but... I am going to only make a few avatars available, and they will be limited to basic graphics so that they do not take much time to download... all of them will be less than 2k, so 15 (avatars per page) of those would be about 6 seconds on a 56k modem.

So... there are already a few uploaded, and you may all add one. Adding one won't preclude you from changing it later if I post a new one later that you like better. All you have to do is click on profile when you are logged in and go down to yoyur 'avatar control panel'... you will see a button that says Show gallery... just click that and choose an image from the page that comes up. That's it.

obviously only registered members can get an avatar, but registration is free and easy and now you have even more reason to register!

Custom Avatars:

I'm still going to do custom avatars... but not at 100 posts... you now need 200. To be fair to those who might be inching closer... I'm going to give it a couple of weeks but then the number of posts required to receive a custom avatar is going to go up. The whole idea of the 100 posts was to reward people for repeated posting, but we set 100 posts back when the board was brand new and now 100 posts takes as little as a week. So post away if you're close, or you may find yourself out in the cold Smile

In one week, I will run a poll to see if the general concensus is that it is better this way, or the previous way. We will see what the people who's opinion on the subject counts most think... you guys and gals. We're always just trying to make this place a better place to talk Redskins.

The avatar rules are at the top of this thread.

I have left open the '100 posts for a custom avatar' for over a week to let anyone who was close get to it... but I'm only going to leave it at 100 posts for a few more days.

Also... when you reach 500 posts you can have a 100x200pixel avatar like mine... but not until. Everyone gets a 100x100 avatar until they have reached 500 posts.

And just to give you all fair warning... when I up the count required to get a custom avatar... it's going to at least double. It will be 200-250 posts for a custom 100x100 and probably 1000 for a custom 100x200... so if you're close to either of the other milestones... you have a couple of days left.

Sorry, I just can't be making custom avatars every day and the whole purpose of it in the first place was to reward people that have obviously made this place home. With basically 100 people a day on the board... it's only taking people a week to get to 100, and that's not what was intended.

There are regular non custom avatars to choose from and I will try and add a few more to that selection this weekend for everybody.

Hey Boss just go to my 500th post yesterday...kinda of sad...I was hoping my 500th post would be a congrats to the Skins and Champ for reaching a friendly agreement....anyway I'll send you a small pic I want added to mine if and when you geta chance
