Redskins Name Eight-Man Practice Squad

The Redskins named their eight-man practice squad on Sunday, adding players who spent time with the team through off-season work and training camp.
The Redskins' practice squad is as follows:
WR Mike Espy
DB John Eubanks
WR Steven Harris
DT Vaka Manupuna
LB Robert McCune
OL Chris Pino
DE Joe Sykes
FB Manuel White, Jr.
In addition, linebacker Philippe Gardent will spend the season on the team's practice squad as part of the NFL's International Development Practice Squad Program.
With the Redskins keeping five wide receivers on the roster, coaches decided to keep two more on the practice squad. Both Mike Espy, a rookie out of Ole Miss, and Steven Harris, a first-year player out of Arkansas, impressed in the preseason.
Offensive lineman Chris Pino, an undrafted rookie, joins Joe Bugel's group. Pino has played mostly tackle on Bugel's line.
Manuel White, Jr., spent last season on injured reserve due to a fractured fibula injury. He was the Redskins' fourth-round draft choice in 2005.
Robert McCune begins the season on the practice squad. He alternated between the roster and practice squad last season. McCune, a fifth-round draft pick in 2005, has experience on special teams and mostly played middle linebacker.
Defensive lineman Joe Sykes and Vaka Manupuna impressed coaches in preseason. They will continue to develop their skills under defensive line coach Greg Blache.
Cornerback John Eubanks is a developmental player who can also return kickoffs, if necessary. |

White or Lumsden but not both. I fail to understand what they saw in White but I was not there to listen to the discussion.
Perhaps, Lumsden's faith was decided the day they brought in T.J. Duckett as a matter of simple numbers. You can have only so many RBs and FBs in the team.
I have no doubt that there is some other lucky team in the NFL out there. Good luck kid! You earned a spot eslewhere. |

| With only 6 LB's on the roster, I'm surprised that we only have 1 on PS. With 9 DL's on roster, I'm surprised we kept 2 on PS. |

Agreed.
I think Lumsden wasn't brought back partly because of injury and partly because the Skins would prefer to see him sign with a team that would use him, much like they did with the release of Cedric Killings.
I was surprised to see Harris brought back on the PS. I thought they had seen enough of him. |

Gotta be honest here. I was really hoping to see Lumsden's name on the practice squad roster and I am really very dissapointed that it is not.
I'm bummed out right now.
I'm glad Espy made it, though. I was really pulling for that kid, too. |

Hmm. I wish we could have kept Ortega.
And I am very surprised that they kept Steven Harris. If I wish we would have kept Jesse or Havner.
And honestly, I have never heard of Vaka Manapuna.... |

| EVERYONE should be happy right now. Our SUPER BOWL winning team is finalized. Now all we have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride. You guys worry to much about one or two players. Don't look at what players we don't have but look at the TEAM we do have. |
