No love for B. Mitch? |
Like Mike Nelms, he was great when he started but his last couple of years detracted from his overall score.
Darrell Green ran back a KO for a TD in his first NFL game and he had that return against the Bears in the NFC Championship game, both unforgettable. He was a threat to take it back every time he touched it, and I think everyone knew it - just don't get that feeling from any other return guy. | I disagree, I just can't see how anyone gets the return spots over Mitchell. |

| I think Champ was with the team for enough years and was great enough that he should be the second corner by default or is this team only designated for lifetime skins? |

My dog's name (Bailey) is Champ-inspired, that's enough for me |

No. I think of it this way. Consider what a fan from another team might think...
Art Monk... though he played with both the Jets and Eagles after leaving DC, when you hear his name, you think Skins
Sonny Jurgenson... played several years in Philly prior to becoming a skin... But, hear his name, and you think Redskins
Brian Mitchell... turned to both the evil Beagles and the Giants... but you'd still think of him as a Redskin.
Most fans around the league hear Champ, and I'm sure they think "Bronco's", not Redskins. I don't think he belongs. |

Halfback
Votes due by February 25th, midnight, EST. Vote for only one.
Terry Allen, 1995-1998, 1 Pro Bowl
Larry Brown 1969-1976, 4 Pro Bowls, 1972 NFL MVP
Earnest Byner 1989-1993, 2 Pro Bowls
Bill Dudley 1950-1951, 1953, HOF, 2 Pro Bowls
Dick James 1955-1963, 1 Pro Bowl
Charlie Justice 1950, 1952-1954
Clinton Portis 2004-present
Joe Washington 1981-1984
I couldn’t decide whether or not to list John Riggins as a halfback or fullback. He probably should be a halfback, but if people can pretend that Mike Alstott is a fullback then we can pretend Riggins is one too. If you guys don’t like that, just say so, I’m not married to it. But at least this way we don’t have to choose between Larry Brown and Riggo.
Also, I included Portis. I think he’s still a ways away from approaching guys like Larry Brown, but he does hold the single-season Redskins rushing record and if a guy like Charlie Justice makes the cut, I think Portis should too.
Happy voting! |

I'm with JF (and, undoubtedly, NC43Hog ). Brown.
I do hope that Clinton gives him a run for his money, one day. |

I'd have thought Steven Davis might deserve a mention, but then maybe he belongs in the fullback category as well as Riggins. Plus the length of his career after leaving Washington - but I still think of him as a Redskin.
In five years time, I'd like to think Portis would walk this category, but my vote goes to Brown. |

Sammy Baugh was also a great saftey and punter. I'll give him my vote for one of those postions. |
EXACTLY! My criterion is I'm assembling a team and I want the best 'Skin ever at every position. The best QB we've ever had is Jurgy. Make Baugh the punter (best ever in NFL) and you have a great back-up at both saftey and QB.

I see I was too late for QB.
We got Bobby Mitchell from the Browns. He couldn't crack the lineup there at halfback due to a guy named Jim Brown. Many of those who saw him run (including me) thought he was just as good.
We moved him to wide out. If we had left him at halfback we'd all be voting for him hands down.
He carried a little over 500 times in 3 seasons with the Browns for a 5.2 average. He was pulled from games more than once when nearing records (for fear of upstaging Brown many say).
He had WORLD CLASS speed. He was a lot like Gayle Sayers.
Charley Taylor was much the same. Started as a runner for us and moved to wideout.
Since neither can really be on this list I guess I gotta go with Larry Brown although the best runners we ever had at this position were Mitchell and Taylor.
