Technically, he's not available, but then again, so it's Chad Johnson. However, Larry has talked about getting out of Arizona and moving on so we'll see what happens.

Folks, please remember that any discussions of additions to the Redskins roster, via free agency, should take place in the Fantasy Football Land forum.
Thanks Thumbs Up

Marcus is one of my favorite players but it is true he's been injured over the past few years, although I think he still has plenty in the tank. I don't agree Rocky remains a question mark. Before he suffered his injury, he was dominating. But I do think it may take half a season for him to get back to full speed. We also don't have a ton of depth at the OLB position, hence the addition and use of Godfrey. That said, I can kinda understand why they might go after Briggs.

I will disagree with you slightly. I actually think that linebacker is somewhat of a question mark. I've followed Rocky since he was a Cane, and while he is very talented, his health is a major question mark. This is his second ACL surgery and he also has a degenerative knee condition. He will probably return at some point this season, but expecting him to perform at a high level in 08 is probably asking too much. As for Marcus Washington, he is clearly not the same player that he used to be. The injuries are mounting and his production is declining. Middle linebacker, with Feltcher and Blades is the only position on that unit that is solid. However, even with the question marks surrounding some of our linebackers, there really is no need to go and spend a ton of money on Briggs. Briggs plays the same position as Rocky, so unless one of them is moving, it's goodbye Rocky. Use the draft and find a future replacement for Marcus instead. Defensive line is a far more critical need for us than linebacker so spend the free agent money/high draft pick on that.

I remember Randall Godfrey making some big plays when we needed him last year. he's a nice cheap option to keep around. As for Marcus Washington not producing anymore, let's give him a chance to have a healthy off-season, and see if he doesn't get back to his form of 2 years ago. His motor never stops when he's healthy. He was trying to play hurt all year so don't count him out just yet. I'd like to see if Rocky can make it back, or give Khary Campbell his well-earned shot, before we go out and no doubt break the record for "biggest contract in NFL history for a linebacker" that Danny will give out for Briggs. Anybody know what the status of Dallas Sartz is? be nice if he was working out with Tyler Ecker it sounds like.

If we did trade Betts, I'd like to sign Cartwright for cheap, before going outside and over-paying. IMO, Rock is extremely under-rated. I like him as much as Betts.

Chad Johnson rules, and he would no doubt continue to rule even if we gave him a fat contract. He is one of those guys that wants to be great, which is half the battle. BUT, we already have THREE $30 million receivers. if we hadn't already wasted that money on Lloyd and El (to a large degree), then it might be more reasonable, but seriously Danny, are we going to spend over $100 million on 1 position? why couldn't we just keep Al Saunders you MF? we were so close. Besides, who was the Chad Johnson in the Seahawks offense? Deion Branch, DJ Hackett, Darrell Jackson? And wouldn't CJ have been a better fit for SAUNDERS offense?

Regardless, from what's been reported, it would cost the Bengals more to cut or trade Johnson than to have him on the roster, so that's not going to happen unless Dan finds some way for us to eat their cap for them... I guess we should stay tuned.

I'm glad that Blache wants to keep Springs. with the amount "shut-down" corners are making these days, his huge cap number isn't quite so huge. have to cross our fingers he stays healthy, but he's playing like he's auditioning for other teams. hey, whatever works. regarding that, I was glad to see Dan is bringing in more strength and conditioning help. good job there Dan. I'm sick of seeing the Cowboys and Patriots in perfect health going down the stretch, while we're hanging on by a hamstring.

while we're giving the MF some props, someone did a good job finding late round gems/undrafted free agents the last 2 years, particularly along the line of scrimmage. If that was Cerrato or that Campbell guy we just promoted, then we should give some cred where it's due. There is no way we should have been able to accomplish everything we did last year with all those injuries. Looks like that latest theory that was going around about our lavish spending causing us to have no depth was dead wrong, because our depth was the reason for the season last year.

It would be awesome if Marcus Washington returned back to his form of 2004/2005, but his numbers have declined in each of the past 3 seasons. So expecting him to be the player that he once was is probably wishful thinking. I'm not saying that we need to get rid of him, but it would be prudent to start looking for his eventual replacement this offseason. Draft a linebacker that the team can develop to eventually replace Marcus.

we need to address our needs in the draft. the skins are over the Cap. we have a good team but have a few needs that need to be taken care of.

for example instead of going for Chad? why not get D.J Hackett , he is perfect fit for us now with Zorn. he burned us in the play off and he is alot cheaper than chad

1st off, Rock's not going ot sign cheap. He's already compared himself to a premium PR/3rd WR (can't remember his name). He also wants to start ar RB, which isn't going to happen here in Washington. Rock is a fairly good KR, but he's not great and won't be great. His success is largely due to the KR blocking. He doesn't have breakaway speed and he's not brimming with agility. He hits the hole fast.

Ocho cinqo is a dumb idea. He's 30, he's drama, and he's expensive. yes he's good, but I don't think he will have positive effect in the locker room. You compare him to T.O. and Randy Moss. Have you, in your feeble minds, stopped to cinsider that they are getting what they want and that's why they have 'turned a new leaf'? They are getting the ball, what they wanted. They have their QB's attention. If they went back to mediocre teams or their current teams deteriorated, you think, for a minute, that they wouldn't miraculously transform back to their former selves, then you are fooling noone but yourselves.

Lance Briggs is too expensive and there's no guarantee that he will perform here. I DO, however, think he would do nicely in Rocky's spot. As previously mentioned and I've said in other threads, he's had bad knees since college and his knees have a degenerative condition, which means he's not going to get better, it's going to get worse. I prefer NOT to pick him up, but if the price is reasonable (I know he'll be expensive), then I'll not be upset.

I am curois to see who is getting let go to free up some cup space first. I think we can survive without Springs, I like what Terrence showed last year.
Also, Brunnel is gone. Phillip Daniels is aging very fast and as much as I like him, he just does not get to the QB. Also, Lloyd wont be back. Tood Wade is very expensive to be a back, so he wont be back. Is that $20,000.000.00, maybe not...

If all you have to comment on is my typos, then why even bother?

Wrong Again. I was commenting on the fact that you were basically insulting posters by saying that people who want a certain player are unintelligent, and inept. I was not just commenting on your typo, but rather the irony that you call out people for being stupid, and then make a portiz-2-skins type spelling error. I wouldn’t mind getting Chad Johnson at all, and I would like to think that my mind is quite sharp, hence my original post.
