The Redskins sign both Randy Moss and Chad Johnson, giving the new West Coast offense a five wide receiver package of Randy Moss, Chad Johnson, Santana Moss, Antwan Randle-El and Chris Cooley. Good luck defending that group of receivers.
With the fifty points per game the offense will be scoring, there will be limited need to upgrade the defense. That can be done through the later rounds of the draft, since the above would entail (yet again) trading away all first, second and third round draft picks for the next two or three years.
By using the "Danny Method" of contracts, both new receivers can be paid $20 Million signing bonuses up front, with long-term contracts for the league veteran minimum. Of course, the usual incentive clauses and bonuses would be built-in to the contracts.
Then, in two seasons, the Redskins can cut both players as having been "non-productive" and deal with the dead cap by restructuring everyone else on the roster.
Business as usual. It could happen. Here's hoping this remains a fantasy. |
