The draft I give an "A". The Redskins got who they wanted.
The prospects I can't grade yet. |

Hard to say, we may look back and see 4 starters from this draft 3 years from now but I think they could have done a LOT better in the second day. |

That's a fair grade. A great job upgrading the wide receivers and they added some secondary depth. Not doing more to address the lines is inexcusable though. |

Definitely worth it at this point in the draft.
P.S. Before you ask, I do think his history is much less troublesome than Colt Brennan's. While in high school, Dixon had consensual sex with a fellow student but was convicted of statutory rape because of her age. He did not rape her nor did he enter into her home or other location unlawfully. His conviction was overturned and has much more in common with the Genarlow Wilson case than it does with Brennan's case (felony breaking and entering conviction with the sex charges dismissed). |
It would appear that we have the cream of the crop here of society. Just b/c you're young and you make some stupid decisions DOES NOT mean that you are completely unable to turn around and become a positive force in society. I guess that guy Sean Taylor was a thug and he deserved what he got? That's what you get when you lump someone who made bad decisions and condemn them without giving the benefit of the doubt to turn a new leaf. |
Please do not throw Sean Taylor's name into any discussion related to Colt Brennan. |
You're questioning character, aren't you? Anyone here SHOULD be able to admit that he had questionable character at one time, and we supported him completely. Is it b/c he's not the best thing to hit the team possibly ever that you have a double standard? |
I'm responding to the following statement: "I guess that guy Sean Taylor was a thug and he deserved what he got?".
There is no possible way to relate the senseless, random slaying of Sean Taylor to Colt Brennan's felony breaking and entering conviction and attempted rape charges.
My argument is that Colt Brennan is a low-character individual. This is my personal assessment, although it happens to be shared by a good many other individuals. This has NOTHING to do with Sean Taylor or his senseless death. I have never impeached Sean's character here or anywhere else and have nothing but respect for the man.
It is incredibly coldhearted for you to even consider lumping Sean in with Brennan. I would expect better of a supposed Redskins fan then to throw Sean's death into the ring in an attempt to make a point on a message board. |
nice way to pick apart my intent, abs. my POINT was that ST was a questionable character and we supported him absolutely. If we did that, then HOW can we condemn Brennan for something that happened 4-5 years ago ? |
Perhaps there are those among us who approach each case on its individual merits rather than empirically painting every individual with the same brush. |
I use the same set of rules for everyone. I believe anyone can make stupid choices in their past and LEARN from those mistakes. I guess you tend to pick and choose who's worthy. What right do you have to judge who's a bad seed and who's not? |
Talk about picking apart a post. Each case has its own set of circumstances that must be taken into account. As INDIVIDUALS, we must all decide whether or not something or someone fits into our personal ethical code.
My right to do this is exactly the same as yours or any other individual's. My feeling on Brennan does not condemn him in any way that's relevant outside of my own skull, just as your approval of him is no guarantee that he will remain with the team for years and years.
I'll go back to the beginning:
Is Colt Brennan a high-character individual?
My answer remains no, and yours is obviously different. We are each entitled to our view, and that's why message boards and other forums exist. Neither one of us should feel the need to impeach the other in any way. I'll hold my opinion and expect you to hold yours, no one is wrong, and no one's career or life is on the line. With that said, I think I've exhausted everything I can possibly say on the matter, and I'll gladly leave to you the last word that you so evidently crave. |

| Anybody else concerned that completely ignoring the pass rush could be an indication that we are going to try and trade for Jason Taylor? |

There is a poll on the main site.
I'm going to let it round for about a week then I might post the results in a thread for discussion if there's any discussion left a week from now |

Jason Taylor will be 34 when the season starts and appears more interested in Hollywood than football at the moment. I'd give up a 4th rounder (at most) for him. |
