Balmer goes AWOL

Balmer missing from practice

Quote:
Defensive end Kentwan Balmer was AWOL from the afternoon practice. The former first-round pick has the physical tools to be at least a solid NFL starter if not a star. But he has been an underachiever in the NFL and the Redskins are his third team in the last calendar year. He is fighting to make the team as a backup.

He won’t do that if he’s not at practice. Mike Shanahan sounded more mystified than angry when he told us yesterday that he simply didn’t know where Balmer was.

I don’t want to speculate as to why Balmer wasn’t there but it’s safe to say that there are very few good reasons to miss practice without the coaches knowing about it. We will see how this turns out.

Balmer was not present at the 10:40 a.m. walkthrough. His agent did not return a call requesting comment. Stephen Bowen said that he did not know Balmer's whereabouts, saying "it bugs me out a little bit."

Not a good way to earn a roster spot if you ask me.

Hope he is OK

Maybe the Ravens would be interested in a no-show named Balmer. Cool

AWOL Balmer apparently changed his phone number

Quote:
When discussing the unexcused absence of defensive end Kentwan Balmer, coach Mike Shanahan said he hopes it’s nothing serious.

It likely isn’t, given that Balmer apparently has changed his phone number.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the number that the team has for Balmer no longer works.

We’ll pass along more details as we get them. For now, it’s looking like Balmer has simply decided to move on, and move out.

The weird thing about Kentawn Balmer's AWOL from #Redskins training camp?....he did the same thing w/ 49ers in 2010.

Walkabout - should surface within 6 months.

Wiki ~ a rite of passage during which male Australian Aborigines would undergo a journey during adolescence and live in the wilderness for a period as long as six months.

Might find him with Ricky Williams.

Good. I don't want any of those UNC Losers on this team anyways. They're all cheaters, liars and lazy. He fits the mold.
