With initial cut downs approaching, here is my prediction for the Final 53 Man Roster.

Quarterbacks

Robert Griffin III
Kirk Cousins
Rex Grossman

No surprise here. But, I actually think the storyline is that Kirk may wind up being the #2 with Rex Grossman being the mentor/emergency QB.

Running Backs

Tim Hightower
Roy Helu
Evan Royster
Darrel Young

Wide Receiver

Pierre Garcon
Leonard Hankerson
Santana Moss
Joshua Morgan
Dezmon Briscoe
Aldrick Robinson

Tight End

Fred Davis
Niles Paul
Chris Cooley
Logan Paulsen

I think this is Cooley's last hurrah. There is a possibility that Paulsen is released, but I think he's a necessity given his blocking ability and our situation at Right Tackle.

Offensive Line

Trent Williams, Kory Lichtensteiger, Will Montgomery, Chris Chester, Tyler Polumbus, Adam Gettis, Josh LeRibeus, Maurice Hurt, Tom Compton.

Jammal Brown to PUP List

Defensive Line

Adam Carriker, Barry Cofield, Stephen Bowen, Jarvis Jenkins, Chris Baker, Kedric Golston

Linebackers

London Fletcher, Perry Riley, Brian Orakpo, Ryan Kerrigan, Lorenzo Alexander, Keenan Robinson, Rob Jackson.

Secondary

DeAngelo Hall, Josh Wilson, Cedric Griffin, Brandon Thompson, Richard Crawford, Tanard Jackson, Brandon Meriweather, Madieu Williams, DeJon Gomes, Reed Doughty

Special Teams

Neil Rackers, Sav Rocca, Nick Sundberg, Brandon Banks

I list Banks as a specialist rather than a WR. Although he will probably get some snaps on certain plays like last year.

Practice Squad

Alfred Morris
Lance Lewis
Jordan Bernstine
Grant Garner
Martinez (OL)

No Morris? Do you think they practice squad him? Me personally, I think they keep him over Helu.

The secondary is down right scary bad ....you got D.hall and merriweather and couple young talent on the up swing and the rest are junk. C. griffin at top of that list.

^Great looking 53, only one surprise, you picked Rackers over Gano (Just Kidding Smile ). I like the 4 TEs - I am trying to figure out how I am going to make that happen.

Couple of comments:

1. No Alfred Morris?

2. I wanted to point out that you have only one back up tackle on your roster, Hurt, and he hasn't played tackle in preseason games. With Brown on the PUP, if he gets healthy, he won't be able to help for at least 6 weeks in accordance with the rules of the PUP.
That almost forces you to have to keep 9 lineman insteadof 8, if you keep Hurt as a back up tackle.

3. You have 8 LB names listed and the number "7" next to linebacks.

I think we try to put him to the Practice Squad. I think he's got a ways to go on pass protection. My guess is that he makes it to the practice squad, but stranger things have happened, like when Keiland Williams didn't clear.

+1 Adjusted the numbers. Typing and drinking a beer.

I think Morris starts out on the PS much like Royster did. Problem is, he may not make it. I think he will. Or, Hightower could start out on PUP allowing him to make the roster.

As for backup Tackle, I have Compton making it there instead of Chris Wilson at OLB. I chose to do that because I think that we have guys at OLB and backup Tackle that we may be able to release, and still get back, like Willie Smith or James Lee. Jordan Black etc. In the event that we lost Polumbus in the first 6 games.

Since we are carrying 3 QBs, it makes for some tough decisions. But, I'm a big fan of Brandon Thompson, and Richard Crawford. I think those two guys are too valuable to release.

I don't think Morris will last on the PS, and TH could land on the PUP or IR

I have Compton going to the PS for a spell and Chris Wilson making the active roster unless Kehl learns to hold onto the ball, and it's possibly that Will Smith gets cut (free up a spot for Paulsen as the 4th TE).

Crawford has outplayed Griffin thus far in practice and in the pre-season, and I believe, Thompson will also make the roster before Griffin or Barnes. Would love to say Rex's performance with the Bears got him run out of Chi Town and Cousins performance in Chi Town last week will get Rex run out of Washington, but I don't think it will happen.

Morris is going to be a tough call. I went with him, because I think that he can be a major contributor early on. Shanny gave him first team reps, because he is looking at him. He can't start right away because of his his lack of blitz pick up. The optimum would be for the PS, because he might be a "system" back, he could make it to the PS. They better shut him down now - he is getting too much attention.

Your philosophy of being able to get guys back for the tackle position is why I went with two QBs. What is the chance of Grossman being picked up if he is released? He will be there if we need him. If we need to go to a third QB in a game, the probability is high that the game is lot, so I am going with two. PLUS - it sure makes it eases the pain of making the 53. Smile

I think the value of Rex Grossman is on the sidelines, looking at photos of the prior series, listening to the play calls, and communicating with the QBs on the sidelines. His knowledge of the offense, and experience against different looks gives him some value when the defense is on the field. We just need to keep him off of the field!! Which is why I'd put Kirk at #2.

Good list. I'm not sure about Niles Paul myself. Right now I think I would have Paulsen making the team with Paul the odd man out.

My answer is "almost zero." This happens a lot, Red. I think of a question but you ask it first. Very Happy

I say waive Rex, watch him clear, claim him, and then do whateva with the guy you really want to keep without risking exposing him to the waiver wire (Morris).

I suppose Rex could retire and we could hire him as a coach if someone claims him. Shocked
