I think any of our RBs can be a starter and find success, as long as the O line gels. We saw it last year, lots of injuries put a group out there that wasn't familiar with each other. They looked bad, and so did the entire offense. But after a couple games working together they were very much improved. Shanahan has acquired Linemen who physically suit the ZBS, and I have faith that , in any combination, we will see improving play from our big fellas. Given time, that group could become a strength, instead of a liability. Morris got good blocking on the first couple of runs and definitely looked capable of being 'the guy' if needed. Unless you are Barry Sanders, your not gonna look too impressive without blockers.

Remember, Morris is the pick that resulted from our dealing McNabb to the Vikings. If he ends up being a multi-season contributor, then I'd say we got our money's worth.

I hope he changes his number. I'm getting sick of seeing our running backs in #46.

He's got really good balance. You don't just knock this guy over. Seems like the best inside runner we have to me.

I'm really pulling for this guy because he helps our offensive line look better than it it. His decisiveness really aids the offensive lines inability to sustain blocks for any length of time.

Apparently the Redskins don't like the number either.

Here are the only notable Redskins who wore the number in modern(when numbers were assigned by positions) times.

Rickie Harris DB - 60's
Frank Grant WR - 70's

Uh Oh, we are starting to see a trend with #46

Ladell Betts RB
Ryan Torain - RB

Next in line when he makes the 53

Alfred Morris RB

Since he will be so happy just to make the team, I doubt if he will ask for a number change. The trend continues Crying or Very sad

Morris uses he Colt game performance to make a claim to the starting RB slot

Quote:
“I was on a play fake and [Moala] came off the O-lineman and he was free and I hit him right in the mouth,” Morris said. “I bent him back and he was like, ‘Yeah, you better help your O-linemen out.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, you’d better get your back checked.’

“I got tackled a couple times on my fakes because I was running so hard they thought I had the ball. I was carrying out my fake and my coach says never pass color and I saw color flash and I hit it. It happened to be a D-lineman.”

As for his running, Morris showed the same attributes that were evident from early in camp: balance, vision, sharp cuts.

“He runs hard, no extra juking or jiving,” said left tackle Trent Williams. “One step and downhill. That’s what you need out of a running back, especially in this offense.”
