Wrong: Jesus sees no dividing class, he wants to SAVE ALL people.
Salvation LEVELS the playing field for all...
Jhn 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, [and] one shepherd.
AND......
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
AND........
Luk 4:25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
Luk 4:26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, [a city] of Sidon, unto a woman [that was] a widow.
Luk 4:27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. |

You believe there is wind, though you do not see "wind" ..... yet you see its evidence as the leaves and branches sway about when it passes.
You do not see wind, yet you see its evidence
You cannot see GOD, yet you see HIS evidence |

Bertrand Russel and the Celestial Teapot:
| Quote: | | Many orthodox people speak as though it were the business of skeptics to disprove received dogmas rather than of dogmatists to prove them. This is, of course, a mistake. If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time. |

| I do so enjoy reading these discussions. And I do like the sound of this teapot religion - think I'll join. Although I fear that the Teapot's Prayer would begin with the words "I'm a little teapot, short and stout"........ |

|
|
Death just might be one of the most misunderstood subjects today.
Here's what the Bible says:
1. Do the dead come back as ghosts to haunt us?
Ecc 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Ecc 9:6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any [thing] that is done under the sun.
2. How did we get here in the first place? "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Genesis 2:7.
3. What happens when a person dies? "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." Ecclesiastes 12:7.
4. What is the "spirit" that returns to God at death? "The body without the spirit ["breath,"] is dead." James 2:26. "The spirit of God ["the breath which God gave him,"] is in my nostrils." Job 27:3.
5. Do good people go to heaven when they die? "All that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth." John 5:28, 29.
"David ... is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day." "For David is not ascended into the heavens." Acts 2:29, 34. |

If there's going to be one of these each week, they should be in the same thread. No reason to have The Lounge clogged up with a dozen different Bible study threads.
