It might be Europe but only some of the Western European countries actually play the game....

what does naming one russian golfer have to do with the fact that europe includes russia and therefore is not 1/4 the size of texas?

I said England is 1/4 of the size of Texas, not all of Europe, and the point is whilst the team is called Europe only around ten countries usually contribute to the team (not 147!).

So Europe may well include Russia, and nowadays about another dozen Eastern European former Soviet states, BUT NONE OF THEM PLAY GOLF!!!

Now if it was Europe v USA in soccer then yeah, we'd have a major advantage, but not so in golf.
