Suisham (for one) does not have near as good a leg as this kid ...

Forbath appears to be the polar opposite of Cundif - Forbath, so far, is deadly accurate with a strong leg on FGs, long and short, but can't kick off deep. Cundif could (notice the past tense) kick the ball deep on kick offs, but couldn't make a long (or short) FG to save his life (career).
Don't understsnd it. Forbath does say that he didn't have to kick off in college, so it seems that he might be able to improve with more practice.
He did nail a couple of directional kicks yesterday.
From what we have seen so far, we definitely want to give this kid a chance to get better with his weaknesses. |

G'day DUDE - maybe you missed that I like how dependable Forbath is as a FG kicker
now ... DUDE - humor me a little - did you see the extra point?
did you notice (as Red_One and I did) how low the kick was .. ? the ball would have gone under the bar if it had not hit someone
as you aptly put it "NUF SAID" - DUDE
on a slightly different note - Forbath needs to find a way to kick the kick-offs deeper or get another job - NUF SAID |

I know what you're saying SkinsJock, that kick did look low. But the big thing I noticed when I watched that replay was that two Steelers got completely behind the o-line before Forbath ever touches the ball. One of those guys gets around Golston before he even gets his hand out of the dirt!!! It looks like maybe he didn't hear the snap or something?

You should definitely take a closer look at the replay. I don't think the kick was low as much as two Steelers were five yards closer to the kicker than they should have been.
Kickoffs need to be better, but the kid is nailing his FGs (and Heinz field is supposed to be a crappy place to kick). We should be happy about that. Surely they can work on his ability to kick the ball out of the endzone on kickoffs. |

Rich Campbell, Washingotn Times, is reporting that Shanny assessment is that it was a low kick.
The video does show that the Steeler got penetration through Golston and that was a factor for the low kick being blocked. We have seen many low kicks make it through the uprights, so without the penetration, it appears the XP is good. NFL.com lists the kick as blocked so I believe that offically the kick was blocked.
Every once in while a kicker is going to have a low kick especially in sloppy conditions, but Golston's play is inexcusable and since this keeps happening to the Skins, somebody needs to be held accountable.

When he's asked to kick into the corner, he's much better. Even kicks farther that way. Dunno why Danny hasn't noticed this.
I'd like to see him kick deeper straight away too but, the fact is, this rookie has made 1 rookie mistake so far. The last several vets we had in here were making rookie mistakes more than once per game. He hasn't cost us a game yet like the last few kickers. I'll wait til then til I jump on him. I do see what youre saying though. |

| He did not kick off in college, they had a specialist so I give him a break on the lack of deep kicks. HOpefully it will get better. The extra point aside (which was awful) he has been solid and hopefullly kicks for the Skins for a long time |

I also hope that Forbath can continue to make all his FGs
that's what kickers should do - that is what they are paid to do
HOWEVER
part of the job is to also kick the ball off a tee - ALL THAT MATTERS ABOUT KICKOFFS is that the next play should be at the 20 yard line or inside it - No kicker keeps his job if they cannot do that consistently
we shall see |

I hope it's a joke. If it's not, someone doesn't know football. Maybe Denver should cut Peyton Manning because he can't run. If Forbath, who probably a pro-bowl choice , never learns to kick deep, it wouldn't kill us to give up one of our receivers who never contributes for a kick-off specialist. Would I rather have Forbath, or Briscoe?
