I personally wish they'd just get rid of the pro bowl. A little off topic but still think its a waste; they don't even try to play

Well...

Dr James Andrews wrote:
"Robert Griffin III had successful knee surgery early this morning. He had a direct repair of his LCL and a re-do of his previous ACL reconstruction. We expect a full recovery and it is everybody's hope and belief that due to Robert's high motivation, he will be ready for the 2013 season.

"The goal of his treatment is to give him the best opportunity for a long professional career."

Maybe... Speak to the hand

Actually... that's exactly what they were saying! Except for the punter, who was thrilled that he took the best ST had to offer... and lived!

the kid is VERY special and if AP can do it I have every faith that RG3 will be fine too - this kid is an Olympic level athlete

If the issue comes down to work ethic I think we all know Robert will be perfectly fine. He'll do whatever he's supposed to .. and more.

My understanding is that one of the reasons Peterson came back so quickly and so strong is that his knee joint was remarkably clean other than the tear - no issues with cartilage damage, etc. If Griffin doesn't have any of those problems leftover from the first injury I think he'll be good to go.

No.

It was a long post but I thought it was pretty well reasoned and I admire you for writing it. I think it belongs in another thread but whateva. I think Shanny has done a lot of good things for the team but ... well ...

Don't forget they'll probably be putting him on medical steroids to speed the recovery.

Not to join the chorus of "little doctors" but when I tore my plantars fascia nothing was working short of surgery. I had to get minor knee surgery for a separate issue and they put me on steroids on and off over a two month period. Healed up just fine and I'm a very slow healer

Reports are that Andrews used a patellar tendon graft from Griffin's left knee to fix the ACL.

Quote:
Looks like even the White House has an opinion...White House press secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday he did not know if President Obama, who has followed the Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III’s season, had reacted to the star player’s post-season-ending knee injury.

But Carney, who is a Redskins fan, said he was watching the game and he called the quarterback’s leg injury “painful to watch.”

“I’m not a football coach but it sure seemed like as remarkable a player as he is, he was not in position to continue playing,” Carney said at his daily White House briefing.

After reporters chuckled, Carney, who sometimes sits in owner Daniel Snyder’s box at FedEx Field, added: “I just got myself in trouble.”

Carney said that a day earlier, someone had forwarded him a tweet from the satirical news site The Onion that said Shanahan had cleared Griffin to “carry furniture.”
