Since Darth was starting all these threads about all time Skins I thought Id throw in a curve ball here.

One game for all time Skins and Cowboys bragging rights. All the Skins fans hopes are riding on you coach. At your disposal you have all the greatest Redskins of all time in their prime. Your opponent your most hated rival all in their prime.

All the Redksins fans hopes are riding on this one. Who do you start for the biggest game in this rivalry ever?

You can choose your style offense and Defense. For the reserves you have 1 backup QB, 1 RB, 2 Olineman, 2 WRs, 1 TE for offense. Defense you get 2 backup Dbs, 2 Lbs and two DL backups.

Cowboys starting lineup

Head Coach Jimmy Johnson

QB Roger Staubach
RB Emmit Smith
FB Darryl Johnston
LT Erik Williams
LG Mark Tuinei
C Mark Stepnoski
RG Larry Allen, Nate Newton
RT Rayfield Wright
TE Jay Novacheck, Jason Witten
WR Michael Irvin, Drew Pearson
WR Bob Hayes

Reserves QB Troy Aikman, RB Tony Dorsett, T Flozell Adams, T/G Nate Newton, TE Jason Witten, WR Drew Pearson and WR Terrel Owens.

Starting Cowboys defense 4-3

DT Bob Lilly
DT Leon Lett
DE Ed too tall Jones
DE Charles Haley
MLB Ken Norton Jr.
OLB Demarcus Ware
OLB Thomas Henderson
CB Deion Sanders
CB Kevin Smith
SS Darren Woodson
FS Bill Bates

Reserves DT Randy White, DE Jim Jeffcoat, LB Chuck Howley, Lee Roy Jordan, DB Mel Renfro, DB Everson Walls

Well heres my all time starting Redskins lineup.

Head Coach Joe Gibbs
I am opting for a single back offense with three wideouts.

QB RG3
RB John Riggins
TE/Hback Chris Cooley
LT Jim Lachey
LG Russ Grimm
C Jeff Bostic
RG Tre Johnson
RT Joe Jacoby
WR Art Monk
WR Charley Taylor
WR Gary Clark

Reserves QB Sonny Jurgenson, RB Clinton Portis, T Jon Jansen, G Raleigh Mckenzie, WR Ricky Sanders and Pierre Garcon.

Starting defense I am opting for a 4-3. I prefer a massive defensive line and nasty tacklers overall.

DT Dave Butz
DT Darryl Grant
DE Dexter Manley
DE Charles Mann
MLB Sam Huff
OLB Lavar Arrington
OLB Ken Harvey
CB Darrel Green
CB Pat Fischer
SS Ken Houston
FS Sean Taylor

K Chip Lohmiller
P Sammy Baugh

Reserves DT Diron Talbert, DT Barry Cofield, LB Monte Coleman, LB London Fletcher, DB Champ Bailey, DB Laron Landry

Personally I think I put together a roster that would destroy most any team. I think our defense would be pretty much lights out.

Randy White, (HOF) would start over Leon Lett. I think DE Harvey Martin would be on the Cowpies team also.

For the Skins Chris Hanburger,(HOF), over Ken Harvey. I would start Diron Talbert over Darryl Grant against the Pie's. He was a monster against them.

I dont know about the offensive side of the ball. I am pretty sure Lynn would be getting busted up by our secondary.
No way does Franco pull off some miracle which was actually illegal contact in those times.

Understandable. However for me I chose size as one of my first priorities. Reason being the Pies Oline is huge as well.

The polls I'm running are a long-term project I took over from Steve Spurrier III. I am dedicated to finishing it. It will end with a starter and back-up at every position along with PK, P, KR, PR, and a few extra RBs, WRs, and TEs for a total of 53 players. This will take a few months.

I'll comment on your Cowboys only.

Larry Allen hands down - he's a historically great guard. Same goes for Mel Renfro.

I dont want this to turn into a love fest for the Cowboys. Its simply if you were putting together the starting lineup who would u start?
I tried to make sure the starting lineup for the Pies was the best they could possibly do. With that in mind you put up your best starting lineup.

I think my lineup would beat their starting lineup.

Puke

Good one. :ROTFALMAO:

When I'm done you'll know how the board feels. Might as well see what kind of individual lineups you get now.

BTW, I always thought Randy White was a little over rated.

With Griff at QB I think we'd be a better team with Jacoby at LT than Lachey. We wouldn't need the small edge in pass pro Lachey might give. I think your size comment applies. I know you have Jake at RT and he'd be fine but he hardly played there. I'd consider Mark May. I wouldn't have Tre Johnson as my RG either - probably Raleigh McKenzie. Rolo is the ultimate back-up on OL, though. I'd have a hard time leaving Bobby Mitchell out of the starting line-up. That also lets you dump Ricky Sanders.

Our safeties are pretty good, huh? I would not have Landry on our team. You could replace him with Sammy Baugh. He could punt too.

Very Happy
I know you didnt mean it that way. I just want to limit any good comments about the pies.

Oh ya I didnt mean any disrespect to the legends of the past like Baugh. I just did not see much of him. So for the knowledge and experience I possess which is 30 plus years of life that is my starting lineup.

As far as Lachey and Jake I just want to put the most talent on the field at the same time. I think they would both outperform May IMHO even at RT. So I could certainly switch them around.

That's all legit.

My biggest gripe would be Bobby Mitchell vs. Ricky Sanders.

Mitchell
Career highlights and awards
4× Pro Bowl selection (1960, 1962, 1963, 1964)
5× All-Pro selection (1959, 1960, 1962, 1963, 1964)
70 Greatest Redskins

Mitchell was invited to play in the College All-Star Game, where he got behind defensive back, James David on an 84-yard touchdown reception, and then scored again on an 18-yard pass from Jim Ninowski. The All-Stars' upset the Detroit Lions, 35-19, and Mitchell and Ninowski shared game MVP honors.

Mitchell was even more successful in track. In February 1958, He set an indoor world record with a 7.7 mark in the 70-yard low hurdles.

As a rookie, Mitchell had a 98-yard kickoff return. A year later against Washington, he rushed for 232 yards, including a 90-yard scoring scamper. The same year, he returned a punt 78 yards against the New York Giants.

As a Brown, Mitchell accumulated 2297 yards rushing, 1463 yards receiving, 607 yards on punt returns, 1550 yards on kickoff returns, and scored 38 touchdowns. (That's just shy of 6,000 yards and 38 TDs in 4 twelve-game seasons while splitting time with Jim Brown.)

When he retired, his 14,078 combined net yards was the second highest total in NFL history. He had also scored 91 touchdowns (18 by rushing, 65 on receptions, 3 on punt returns, and 5 on kickoff returns). He amassed 7,954 yards on receptions and 2,735 yards on rushes. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1983.

Absoulutely

Diron Talbert, quite literally, detested Roger Staubach. It was personal... and he was always a "little" more motivated when playing Dallas. I'd absolutely want him on any team that's playing against Staubach.

I would say that Tom Landry has to be the coach of the Cowboys over Jimmy Johnson.

As far as the Redskins go, I would have to take Sonny Jurgensen over RG3 since he's only played one year and Sonny was the best in his time (better than Joe Namath or Johnny Unitas IMHO).

Also, Jerry Smith was Jurgensen's go to guy on third downs. He had the best hands on the team, which was stocked with Hall of Famers Charley Taylor and Bobby Mitchell. Smith needs to be in the Hall of Fame.

I've got to go with Bobby Mitchell over Gary Clark. Not close; Mitchell's a Hall of Famer.

Chris Hanburger hands down over Lavar Arrington. Hanburger was one of the smartest players ever to play the game.

I can't help but say this.... After 1 year in the league, there is no way I would put RG3 as the starting QB on the Skins all time team, I would have Sonny as the starter and probably Theismann as the back-up.

I would nix Garçon(for now) and put Cooley as a back up and throw Jerry Smith at TE.

You forgot kickers and Punters though.....
K- Mosley
P-Sammy Baugh(and he can play QB or Corner too Smile

There has to be someone better than Cofield to fill that back up DT position as well... Diron Talbert... killed the cowboys didn't he???

lets make those changes Smile
